i completely agree with the above, it was a decent gesture.
To be fair, had Audley wheeled out his usual rubbish about beating Godzilla then King Kong, and not acknowledged Sprott's absence, and loss, then it would have been outrageous, to me at least!

But he didn't talk like a tit, and he did make that gesture, so well done Audley.

More of the same please Audley.....you still have a lot of jive-talk and under-performances to make up for, but for the first time in a long time, you are now at least heading in the right direction. :TU:

Credit where it's due. It was a very nice gesture, if he goes back to acting like a wanker he'll deserve to hear about it.

In addition to buying in the US he also rented a fancy penthouse in Canary Wharf (at what must have been near the bottom of the market at the time :-? ) and he was fully into the jetsetter lifestyle when he was riding the licencepayer cash wave.

Yeah, he wasn't the most frugal in those early days. Not wishing to "do a Spud", but I worked with him on some of his own promotions and then attended the after-parties. Hiring out West End nightclubs on Saturday nights and buying multiple rounds of champagne by the bottle cannot come cheap.

Well, before you say that, don't forget he's got to put food on his own table. That prize money is his wage.
the 1 million he got from the BBC should have been for life, the 32K prizefighter fee is loose change.

Take off Board Tax, Trainers fees, Managers Fees, Promotor's cut, Expenses, and then 40%income tax, how much do you think Audley banked NET.
Always sounds flash these headline gross figures.

Exactly, people overestimate how much boxers get NET as the figures given in the media are just put out there to gain attention.

A very good gesture by Audley, no doubt.

How much did the trophy raise after?

Audleys millions. however much he earned at the beginning of his career has seemed to be invested well because he doesn`t look to be struggling at all. Which is amazing when you read about finacial problems holyfield and Tyson are supposed to have had and the staggering amounts they earned in their long careers.

Can't believe the debate!

He didn't have to do anything but he did. Fair play to him.....

PS Oliver told me about one of A-Force's parties in a West End nightclub that involved a piranha, a packet of Revels and Frank McAvennie. I'm sure he'll fill you all in at a later date :)
