Good fighter, Dickinson.

As many will be aware of, he stopped Groves as an amateur in the opening round.

His KO of Hamed Jamali was impressive.

Jamali has a good chin but Travis did him over good and proper.

Impressive.

Still not sold on him, think he get hit too much. Still, it's early days and he obviously has the power.

Oh, and i didn't see tonight's fight.

jumped straight on to the debutant. Writing looked on the wall but suddenly the debutant started to fire back.

TD caught the lad to the jaw, but Hughes got sloppy. Tried to engage. Stopped on his feet after taking the same shot twice over, before being led away to his seat.

To me, it looked more a case of what the other lad couldn't do that what TD could. Although you can't ask for more that a RSF 1.

Maybe he's just too keen to impress at the moment, but other than natural power, I'm not seeing much to like.

If it weren't for the wins over Groves I'd have him pegged as a 'fun to watch' domestic level slugger. Still early days though.

A guy wins his fight in the 1st, after in the last fight beating a tough journeyman in the 2nd and he gets slagged off.

If Travis boxed out of Repton people on here would say he was the second coming.

I fully believe he will go very far.

I've only seen him once so I'm happy to reserve judgement, but I have to be honest and say I thought he seemed quite stiff and upright. He can clearly bang, but seems to be one of those stereotypical British fighters who lack head movement and who don't have the fluidity to compete at a higher level. Whereas Groves strikes me as having the more 'natural' pro style.
Just my take!

yes he said he want's to get revenge on travis after the stoppage in the amateur's but dickinson is the naturally heavier man.think groves look's alot better then dickinson tbh tho.just my opinion :TU:

Brave debut! In fact, against a prospect who is a known puncher... its very brave indeed!

Can't be easy starting your career with a first round stoppage.

I don't think people are slagging him off.

People are saying he has shown good power thus far, just not a lot else.
Hardly slagging him off is it!?

Which one of the Dickinson's got banned in the Amateurs for using enhancing drugs? I think it may be the other lad.

Not another Collingwood situation is it? :P

I don't think he's getting slagged off one bit mate. Couple of people aren't sure about him including myself, but i'm not putting a prediction on how far he can go considering it's still early days and he has got the power.

Yep bacca exactly the same as Collingwood.

For Colly read Ian Bell
For Travis Dickinson read George Groves

In comparison achievements are the same yet Bell and Groves get mass plaudits because they look the part, come from the right part of town etc etc

Dickinson and Colly don't get the credit they deserve because they are from unfashionable parts etc etc etc FACT

for fucks sake, what they should do is stick Groves and Dickinson in a professional ring together and let them fight it out.

But thats not going to happen, is it, because we follow an largely uncompetative sport where fighters are matched in "learning fights" against foriegn imports and debutants because of the myth that an "undefeated" record is the most important thing a boxer could have.

It's also the reason why we see genuine well matched competative fights, that have a real fan appeal, happen roughly once or twice a month in the UK.

Mate, I honestly think that's largely bollocks. Most posters on here are perfectly able to spot hype jobs and rate fighters purely on what they see in the ring rather than where they're from. Christ, I'm from Somerset so have no affinity with either fighter, but based on what I've seen, Groves genuinely looks the better prospect. End of.

I also have no affinity with either fighter, and feel the same as you.

Wrists, what connection do you have to Dickinson? Friends with him?
