Talksport Hall of Fame

Post by Syntax Error »

Talksport radio are currently running a poll to decide who is the greatest boxer of all time.

They've narrowed it down to, Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray Robinson & Marvellous Marvin Hagler.

I'm perplexed that Henry Armstrong isn't featured, but I can understand it knowing that station.

Ali is out in the lead, but what staggers me is that Sugar Ray Leonard is 2nd! :o

Now I like SRL, but no way should even be on the list, let alone 2nd.

Voting has now closed & they're counting the results, but I can say for sure that Muhammad Ali is in & it is more than likely that SRL has come second. :witzend:

No place in the Talksport HOF for Sugar Ray Robinson.

What staggers me more than Leonard being second is, there is no place for Henry Armstrong? Just plain ridiculous & goes to show the credibility of this whole thing can be questioned!

Ali will probably win by the votes, but by no means, was/is he the best P4P boxer in history. That accolade belongs to Ray Robsinson, followed by Armstrong imo.

The fact is the average sports fan has no idea who Henry Armstrong is. Its not a poll to find out the best boxer, just the most famous.

Talksport is a disgrace - the station simply refuses to accept that boxing is good business.

Adios.

And its clear bias towards everything London also marks it out to be a disgrace of the highest order.

Some of their coverage of when Sir Bobby passed away was shocking, re-hashing shite stories about Newcastle fans abusing the great man - NOT TRUE AND NOT APPROPRIATE

Can you elaborate on this?

I do remember them doing a few live fights in the past and at least they included Boxing in their poll and still have some good interviews with boxers and chat about the big fights.
