Big shot!!!!!
This is where I can see the super 6 series coming undone somewhat.
Who thinks Taylor will finish this tournament after that?

Trust Abraham to finish it like that. Cheeky bugger. I knew the weight would be fine for him.

That was worrying stuff for a moment there... Ref should've just waved that off as soon as Taylor's head bounced off the canvas.
I too worry about the status of the tourney after that.

Nice one. I would have been really disappointed with anything less than a brutal Abraham KO. Quality fighter.

Taylor's confidence is going to be shot to bits. It's things like this that make you wonder if all the fighters will complete the three fights. Especially coming straight after the Froch KO.

taylor is finished mentally - he just doesnt have it, he didnt even try to win, i really hope they pull him out of this tournament.deadpan wrote:Has Taylor gone to poop, or is this a bad sign for froch's super 6 chnces as he got largely skilled by JT? abs dominated from the halfway mark.
he's brutal in clusters isn't he.
they should call abs the cluster bomber.
he's bit n pieces but he's damn effective.
one of my favourites going in was abraham. :>
1 down.
1 to go.

Re: Abraham vs Taylor, Froch vs Dirrell RBR + Free stream thread
Is there a contingency if Taylor pulls out?
Re: Abraham vs Taylor, Froch vs Dirrell RBR + Free stream thread
Abraham looked his usual self, compact, defensively sound, and when he swung, he usually swung for the bleachers, as our American cousins say.
I do wish he didn't swing like that with the wide punches, because in the fights I've seen, most of his power comes from his orthodoxy -- short, 'correct' punches, as I think this KO showed.
Obviously, a relatively impressive performance, because it all looked pretty routine for Abraham, where Taylor gave Froch serious problems; however, looking at that, I think I'd fancy Kessler against Abraham. Kessler will be far stronger and more robust than Taylor and I think that extra, plus Kessler's own punch picking, jackhammer right, and powerful jab will give Abraham serious problems.
That said, I really don't like Froch's chances in this tournament full stop. I think he might squeak past Dirrell, but I see him getting knocked out against Abraham and Kessler. His chin is simply too easy to find, and these guys bang.

James I think your giving AA a bit of a disservice. I think he hurt Taylor early.... the jab in the opener made him sit back and take notice.jamesmcdonnell wrote:taylor is finished mentally - he just doesnt have it, he didnt even try to win, i really hope they pull him out of this tournament.deadpan wrote:Has Taylor gone to poop, or is this a bad sign for froch's super 6 chnces as he got largely skilled by JT? I'm with two people who aren't really fans and they love Buncey!mrrocco wrote:I like Bunce but he talks over the top shite at times - claiming that Abraham lands 200 elbows a fight and says that the shot that rocked Taylor was an elbow?????
He's a boxing commentator not WWE commentator. It's very misleading and confusing for the non-knowledgeable fans.
Also, that dig that rocked Taylor was followed through with the elbow.

AA one of my fave fighters, very weird and enigmatic. almost eubank-like. he could be doing more. he just does enough, for much of the time. and he often looks tired. not to mention being drained at 160 and movng up to 168... then sometimes there are the sudden knockdowns. but in contrast to eubank, he seems to have the better 12 round plan to make sure he's actually winning properly. and unlike eubank, AA doesn't let anyone off the hook.
