Jermain Taylor

Post by Asterix »

Someone changed Jermain Taylor's height from 6' 1" to 5' 11". We know, from watching Taylor against fighters like Pavlik, Froch and Hopkins, that he is around 6' 1", so why was his height changed?

Today, German newspaper "Bild" reported that Taylor is 185cm, that would make indeed nearly 6' 1''...

The Wiki for this last fight needs to be cut down and less opinionated as well.

IBF Middleweight champion Arthur Abraham moved up to the Super Middleweight division and scored a twelfth round knockout over former Middleweight champion Jermaine Taylor. Taylor took an early lead, moving and jabbing very well, and clearly winning rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8. Abraham, an Armenian now fighting out of Berlin, Germany, now 31-0, 25 kos, landed great body shots, right hooks to the head, and left-right combinations effectively and consistently to win rounds 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11. Taylor fought dirty at times, and was caught throwing low blows in rounds 2, 4, 6, 8, and 11, yet only one point was taken away. Abraham was winning round 12 when he threw a fast straight right that got through the upraised gloves of Taylor and knocked him out with sixteen seconds left. Taylor appeared to be 'out' before hitting the canvas. Taylor, of Little Rock, Arkansas, 28-4-1, 17 kos, lost for the fourth time in his last five bouts. This brutal knockout appeared to end his career.

Showtime had him at 5'11. They always have lower measurements for boxers compared to those on HBO and other outlets. Perhaps they actually measure them?

Taylor is definitely between 6' 0'' and 6' 1''... nearer to 6' 1'' though... I mean, Abraham is already 5' 10'', and Taylor is more than one inch taller than him... nearly 3 inches, in fact...
