IF YOU'RE JERMAIN TAYLOR DO YOU CARRY ON IN THE SUPER SIX
Now this is where it may fall down. What would you do if you were Jermain Taylor? Two hugely damaging losses and he's got to go on in this?
He was badly knocked out tonight and If I was his manager/trainer and really cared about his health I'd say 'you've had a good run Jermain but now's the time to get out'.
What d'ya reckon?

He has to carry on for the sake of the tournement sure it must be hard to take 2 concecutive KO defeats but he has to bounce back if he leaves now it ruins the tournement.

A fight against Andre Ward is a much different and far less taxing fight than either Abraham or Froch. I'm sure Taylor will be keen to meet someone a little bit chinny who will stand off and and mimic him for 12 rounds.
Pavlik-Froch-Abraham are three fighters with a lot of things in common. They seem to all be Taylor's worst nightmare.

Four times he has been knocked out in his last four fights.
Id like to see him retire.
He is a great fighter but not in the top 6.

No he hasn't. He has been stopped in the last 2 of 4.vegasmtv wrote:Four times he has been knocked out in his last four fights.
Both Froch and Abraham are tough come forward fighters. He'll be competitive against Ward though I'd like to see him hang them
up.
No Kessler is facing Froch next.Frochattack! wrote:He's scheduled to fight Kessler next.

no matter what the contracts say, they cannot force him to participate against his will.

Yeah, I got my dates mixed up. Taylor is slated to fight Ward next, which is definitely a winnable fight for him as Ward isn't much of a puncher and has shown signs of fragility. If Kessler wipes the floor with Ward, a Ward/Taylor would essentially have to be promoted as a battle between the weak links of the tournament.
Re: IF YOU'RE JERMAIN TAYLOR DO YOU CARRY ON IN THE SUPER SIX
Taylor should definitely fight Ward.

Re: IF YOU'RE JERMAIN TAYLOR DO YOU CARRY ON IN THE SUPER SIX
I just hope Taylor's okay. That was a bad knockout and he's been really spent and badly hurt and taken some sickening punches in all the fights he's lost and that's a dangerous well to keep dipping into. Once Abraham came into it Taylor slowly fell apart again.
He must have made a few quid and I hope he exits stage left before he gets really hurt. Wouldn't want to see what seems like a good family man get hurt for sake of a competition he has no chance of winning.
Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age but just my opinion.

I just fear for a fighter who shuts down like Taylor who bravely goes on until he has nothing left. Just worry for the man's safety now cos that was a horrible knockout tonight.

He's done, he cant compete, he will carry on to pick up the checks but I'd probably advice him to go into journeyman mode, covering up, moving, punching/holding etc. 3 KOs means hes getting brain damaged right now

Apparently Taylor will be in hospital for s few days with severe concussion. Also has short term memory loss according to the current scene guys. Get well soon JT and hopefully retires now.
Re: IF YOU'RE JERMAIN TAYLOR DO YOU CARRY ON IN THE SUPER SIX
As a matter of interest, what scores did people have before Taylor got KO?i had it 106-103 to Abraham but my scoring can be dubious

X2
I`d hate to see him continue out of some sort of loyalty - and get hurt.
Who would they install to replace him? and how would that effect the competition?

Re: IF YOU'RE JERMAIN TAYLOR DO YOU CARRY ON IN THE SUPER SIX
What would happen if he did drop out ?????
I read somewhere that Showtime has contingency plans for such events, I wonder who they'd bring in?
Buncey last night mentioned Pavlik would be knocking on the door begging to be let in.

In an ideal world Bute would come in I suppose, but we don't live in an ideal world

Well Bute is scheduled to rematch Andrade soon so you'd expect the winner of that one to be mentioned wouldn't you?
But Allan Green is the name that I keep hearing mentioned as a potential replacement.

ON A THREAD ON CURRENT SCENE I JUST SAW THAT THE REPLACEMENT , SHOULD THERE BE ONE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE JERMAINES ZERO POINTS AND HAVE STILL JUST THE 2 FIGHTS SO FOR ME THAT WOULD RULE OUT SOME TOP FIGHTERS THAT WOULDNT AGREE TO WHAT WOULD BE A HANDICAP , SO LOOKING AT LESSER FIGHTERS THAT ARE STILL ENOUGH OF A NAME WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD GET THE NOD , I RECKON IT WOULD BE SOMEONE ALONG THE LINES OF PETER MANFREDO UNFORTUNATELY

Did Bernard insult the homo-wrestlers or something:-)Ant Evans wrote:He beat Hopkins twice and yet has lost to every real/equally sized fighter he's faced since... he isn't very good. He's the new David Reid
Bernard is-was a terrific fighter. Admittedly, it was a thin line between guile and laziness toward the end. But to say he sucks, is pitiful.

Come on, how many boxers have suffered three or more stoppage defeats? It's always bad to see anybody stretched out like that, but let's not overreact.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:He's done, he cant compete, he will carry on to pick up the checks but I'd probably advice him to go into journeyman mode, covering up, moving, punching/holding etc. 3 KOs means hes getting brain damaged right now

Re: IF YOU'RE JERMAIN TAYLOR DO YOU CARRY ON IN THE SUPER SIX
I think it would still be an attractive proposition. Two good-earning fights and still the possibility of up to 4 points - not to mention guaranteed world title shots if facing Froch or Kessler and they still have their belts.damianhucker1 wrote:ON A THREAD ON CURRENT SCENE I JUST SAW THAT THE REPLACEMENT , SHOULD THERE BE ONE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE JERMAINES ZERO POINTS AND HAVE STILL JUST THE 2 FIGHTS SO FOR ME THAT WOULD RULE OUT SOME TOP FIGHTERS THAT WOULDNT AGREE TO WHAT WOULD BE A HANDICAP , SO LOOKING AT LESSER FIGHTERS THAT ARE STILL ENOUGH OF A NAME WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD GET THE NOD , I RECKON IT WOULD BE SOMEONE ALONG THE LINES OF PETER MANFREDO UNFORTUNATELY
