3rd place Yuandale Evans turned pro.teasy24 wrote:I knew Cochran was going but I didn't know Fowler was because of the 4th place finish at the USA's.

Fowler is fighting GB on 16th in Norfolk, so he will return to fight in PALs.panhandle boxing wrote:so hold on fowler and cochrane aren't going to the palsringsidemike wrote:Fowler and Cochrane are confirmed for USA vs. GB
I think Jerren is fighting GB on 24th so he will miss the PALs.

52 Kilograms = 114.6 lbs
Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
A kilogram is 2.2 lbs x's 52 = 114.4 so it is rounded down to 114 lbs.clarkringone wrote:52 Kilograms = 114.6 lbs

Jim - maybe you weren't born yet.....I always wondered why the US just doesn't switch to metric.
Congress also passed a law in 1975 to work toward making the metric system the standard system in America. This was amended in 1988 when it was decided that the Government itself must be metric before it can start asking the private sector to follow suit.
Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
I remember when the US tried to go metric but everything was listed in both measurements and as I said before, it is only confusing when you try to convert metric to the US system like 1 kg = 2.20462262 pounds. All metrics is in multiples of 10's which even math-challenged people can figure out.boxmel wrote: Jim - maybe you weren't born yet.....but I distinctly remember the time the US tried to make us go metric. It was a total bomb as most people had grown up with the non-metric system and just couldn't make the switch. I'm math-challenged as it is, let alone trying to figure out a new numbers system.

If I recall, it was the darn old people who complained about switching to metric. The US just needs to go 100% metric and it won't be long before it becomes easy even for old people

Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
since its 114.6 something??
they should round it to 115?
they should round it to 115?
Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
If it was 115 I think more bantamweights would try to make the drop, but that extra pound will scare most away. 114 is going to be all the 112 pounders just at a higher weight, with maybe 1 or 2 119 pounders making the drop. Just like 108 will be all 106 guys, excpet maybe 1 or 2 112 pounders. Now 123 should be a very interesting and competitive division!

Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
Heard today that there are 700 entries this year - age 11 on up. Probably won't get the brackets until tomorrow. I know Hassim Rachman is here, as is Victor Pasillas. I'll know more tomorrow.
Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
cool shouldbe a great turnout this year
Re: 2009 National Pals In San Antonio Tx
Mel if you are in San Antonio can you post the brackets or get someone else to do it? It is really great to know who will be boxing and when. I know that there are at least 7 boxers in the 201 Open class. It should be interesting to see who wins.

Dennis, I'll see what I can do. Looking around...I'm probably the most computer literate. 8) If I only had a scanner with me. :( I'll try and put up the bout sheets and results, working with double sessions and 3 rings.
