Didn't Jim say he had it for Dirrell by 1 round but he wouldn't have argued if it went the other way? I think Rawling & Thaxton had it for Dirrell aswell.bengulnaci1 wrote:Buncey and Rosenthal (2 of the best boxing men) called it for Froch, and you cant accuse them of favouritism, they are unbiased and call it the way they see it, regardless - That says alot, for me.

Enz dismissed a calzaghe and Froch match-up by once saying that his young fella Cleverly would be more than a match for Froch.stujones wrote:I actually was tempted to start a thread about Froch vs Cleverly.
I know - and everybody else does - that Enzo talks alot of rubbish. But this is one comment I think that holds water.
Just like Buncey never showed favouritism with Audley when he was with the BBC ehbengulnaci1 wrote:

Re: Support for Froch
For starters, I felt Dirrell won a close one by a round or two. He gave away too many rounds to Froch by simply not being positive enough in some of the rounds and some judges will give those to Froch for being the guy marching forward (although with very little effect)kingfinn wrote:
It not an off night, he's just not that good. His weaknesses have been there from day one and dirrell aint that good.If froch cant beat an up and comer what chance has he got against a genuine seasoned champ like AA or Kessler. Dirrell Maybe good but at this stage in his career a real world champion would have enough to beat him, calzaghe would of cleared his clock.Dirrell is good alright, he's got a lot to learn, but eff me, he's lighting quick with amazing reflexes and balance, that much was obvious.
To use Froch's performance against Dirrell as a reason for him having no chance with Abraham and Kessler is ridiculous though. I know it's a cliche but styles do make fights and (although I make him an underdog to both) Froch is going to look a lot more comfortable against guys who stay in front of him.
What disappointed me most about Froch's performance (as well as completely ignoring McCracken's advise, not for the first time) is that he seemed to completely lose interest in the last few rounds. Almost thinking if Dirrell isn't going to stand and trade then he wasn't going to bother, was a shame.
Re: Support for Froch
Froch was poor, and this was very disappointing. My arguments in support of Froch hinged a lot on him being able to add adjustments to his game in future fights...
Still, I have to give him credit for the spirited wins over Taylor and Pascal - great fights, Super 6 calibre fights before Super 6 even started.
If I was being optimistic, I would say that at least he won't have to run after Kessler and Abraham...
Right now, I'd say he's a heck of a fighter. Jean Pascal can fight and they really went at it, in that one. But his boxing is not looking good.
I admire Froch for taking the hardest fights, for having ambition. But I think he has to do some justice to himself, by boxing better. We'll find out whether it's a blessing or a curse, that he has two more opportunities to impress, v Kessler and Abraham.

Froch wasn't even intelligent enough to try to get Dirrell to the body while it was obviously the key to the fight?!!

LOL at this. Absolute rubbish. Froch a technician? you either need glasses or should stop the crack pipe. Froch didn't outbox Pascal, he outmuscled him as Pascal went to war and turned it into a brawl which is what Froch is also good at.christymetcalfe1 wrote:people seem to forget for most of frochs career he was billed as a techniqan, and this billing continued when he outboxed jean pascal.. current light heavyweight kingpin, and in the first few rounds against direll when froch was going techniqal it was very equal
not only is froch good techniqually his stamina is unmatched a good chin and knockout power... kessler wil have a hard night on his hands and all for you who think otherwize are incorrect
In the 1st few rounds, it seemed equal because of the way Dirrell was scared and paralized by the pressure, yet Froch wasn't landing anything. I don't know when "Froch was going technical", when was that lol ? All Froch could do is throw himself wildly on Direll, hit the air and look clumsy. Froch is very easy to counter and that's also how Taylor despite average power, managed to hurt him at several occasion and even floor him.

I would probably sum things up much the same as you!!!nobby_nobbins wrote:Froch is my favourite fighter but I think he should have lost last night. It wasn't a robbery, some of Froch's roughhouse work was effective - but the majority of the quality punches came from the American.
I was shouting from the rooftops from his debut that Froch would be a world champion - I am delighted he is - I just dont see anyway he beats Kessler although it will be excellent if he does.
In my view Froch lost against Dirrell - although I am delighted he got the win and is still flying the flag as a British world champion!!!

Hatton has had a couple of absolute dogshit performances and still got the decisions so it'sjust what happens at the top level. Not saying it;s right/wrong.
For me Dirrell ran all night and just wasn't convincing enough, I was there at the night with a fantastic view, I felt that Froch's workrate and making the fight could have shaded it on points and was proved just about correct.
If you want to win a fight on the back foot and doing a roadrunner impression then you've got to be a pretty convincing winner imo and he just didn't do enough, too much running and not enough actual decent hurtful punches landed. The guy is basically still amateur in style and I for one would think it pretty horrible if he had become the WBC Super Middleweight champion, the guy stunk the place out.

That's not true - Froch started to pull away from Pascal in the middle rounds when he started throwing more jabs.Raff The Frenchman wrote: LOL at this. Absolute rubbish. Re: Support for Froch
Abrahams was ahead and winning the fight against JT when he stopped him in the final seconds. Froch was losing by approx four Rounds against JT when he found the punch that won him the fight. You cant rely on the big bomb, you have to be good enough to get the points win and if the chance to KO your opponent comes then go for it. Froch has relied heavily on finding the finishing punch which works at a lower level and worked against JT who was knackered and just wanted to get the points win. I have said all along the arms down style wont work at the highest level and it wont against Kessler and AA. Froch to his credit has good stamina, a lot of power, and a superb chin, so he has got to where he has with these assets, but you need more to beat the likes of Kessler and Abrahams. I dont care what anyone says Froch does not have the technical skills those men have. A lot on here seemed to think Froch could beat Calzaghe a while back. Do the same people still believe that now. Froch is fighting in a higher league than he was then and didnt do too well against the speed of Direll so how could he have dealt with Calzaghe who was at the time so much better than Direll is. Froch wants to walk in Joes shoes and believes he can do what Joe did and have a showdown with Kessler and win. In fact he wants to go further and win the super six and claim to be the best SMW ever. He just wont do it. I am not a Froch hater, I dont hate anyone. I cant say I like him either. I dont like arrogant people, while I admire any fighter with a bit of confidence. Froch has admitted he doesnt understand the difference between confidence and arrogance, which is why he talks the way he does. I also think people on here mistake arrogance with bravery (I can beat anyone has been his claim). Dont get me wrong Froch is very good and had a solid amateur career as well but he isnt the best of the bunch as he thinks he is, and time will prove that.

i do agree tat abraham has by far the more efficient way of fighting. some boxing, some defending, some resting, some flurrying, and some absolutely murderous power punching - when he's in complete control, that is.WildWaylon wrote:Abrahams was ahead and winning the fight against JT when he stopped him in the final seconds. but froch stopping taylor, now that was exciting. it was a riveting ending.
Re: Support for Froch
Froch is the best British boxer at the moment hands down. He's also my favourite. I think its hideous all the negativity surrounding him at the moment. Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell all on the spin not many British boxers have fought that class of boxers in their career never mind in successive bouts! Hopefully if he beats Kessler he will be finally recognised.

Re: Support for Froch
Some of the abuse froch has got on these forums has quite frankly been disgusting! Even saw a thread called "froch past it" didnt bother read it as its just full of crap. Anyone who puts there world title on the line in a tournement like this has balls, would calzaghe have put his title on the line in this tournement if he was still about?.....NO CHANCE! Froch could have just as easily defended his title against bums for the next couple of years but no he wants to prove himself against the best which i for one commend. Froch may not be the best super middleweight in the world but he definently is world class and you could probably say he's one of the top 10 super middleweights today. He showed heart and warrior spirit against Taylor and Pascal and just had an off day against a fighter who quite frankly didn't want to fight. Froch is representing this country in a tournement which is the best thing to happen to boxing in a very very long time. Instead of sitting here slagging him off why not be grateful and support him....anyway thats just my thoughts on the matter....peace

Carl got the win and Dirrell could have done more to obviously take the title.
Now Dirrell knows he's up to the competition and Carl knows he must give a better showing next time.
So good to have this series of fights cos all of this debate should get ironed out, without having to wait years.

like my mate told me, Kessler and Abraham will be easier for Froch stylistically, if perhaps more painful nights overall.
