Odlanier Solis what do you think of him
Here's his recent fight with Monte Barrett in high quality, Odlanier looks like he could lose quite a few pounds, does he have a chance against the top heavies?

Very fat, very lazy and very talented. If he bothered trying to make cruiser, he'd be unbeatable. Alternatively, if they split created a super-heavyweight division and a regular heavyweight division, he'd probably rule the heavyweight division for a long time. As it is, he'll beat most normal sized heavies and then get beaten up by either Klitschko.

Agreed and I also think Haye would beat him in the pro's.Eraserhead wrote:Very fat, very lazy and very talented. If he bothered trying to make cruiser, he'd be unbeatable. I've seen him a couple of times before, & I always think "You fat bastard, lose some weight". He does have very very quick hands for a heavy though, & can obviously dig.
As Eraserhead said above, he'll twat most normal heavies but all that weight will kill his chances of putting enough pressure on either one of the Brothers Klit to break them down.

way too much faith put in Solis and Pianetta atm neither can dent the klits.
and solis is too small for Haye
id like to see him fight Sexton/ Rogan/ Minto
poss Mike Perez is the better Cuban but hes gone all quiet in Ireland.

He needs to lose about 45lbs, which is not going to happen.
He will get outworked and drop a decision fighting a fringe guy.
For a well schooled Cuban with extensive Am experience, his right cross is dog ugly!

I'd say he has the best chance against the Klitschkos'. Him and Johnson.
If guys like Chagaev and Gomez couldn't live with them though, it's hard to give Solis a much better shot.
He's still exceptional though, even as heavy as he's become, he's still hugely talented.
I'd definitely give him the same kind of chance of bulldozing Wlad that Haye had.
Solis vs Haye part 2 would be interesting.

Re: Odlanier Solis what do you think of him
i have no problem with him being a heavyweight. he has skills and he wants the big money. problem is he's now a 270pound heavyweight. if he was 230 it'd be very encouraging. but he's not.
prospects are getting thrown in vs a suddenly busy vitali klitshko. in other words, young 'uns aren't being protected - thye're being FED to vitali. i fear it's too late for solis. an alrernative would be to target haye if haye beats valuev.

Supremely talented, but his management's allowance to constantly throw junk food down his gob, and not punishing him, will be his undoing.
Re: Odlanier Solis what do you think of him
I'd go further than that, 230 is still too large for him. Down to 215-220 and he'd be a handful for anyone.Autobarn wrote:i have no problem with him being a heavyweight. he has skills and he wants the big money. problem is he's now a 270pound heavyweight. if he was 230 it'd be very encouraging. but he's not.

270 is an embarrassment

Re: Odlanier Solis what do you think of him
Exactly. He hit Barret with plenty of right hands flush and didnt make any impact. The left hook did the damage. He's fat and cumbersome - I feel his speed would also improve with weightloss. But he just keeps getting fatter and will ultimately get splattered by a Klitschko.yiddo14 wrote:He needs to lose about 45lbs, which is not going to happen.

Solis and johnson are tailor made for the usual sickening 9th round stoppage.
atm only Haye has the height to trouble the Klits.
johnson is 6ft 4 but hes slow , lazy and has no punch whatsover....
Re: Odlanier Solis what do you think of him
I think speed is more important than height. Someone needs to get beyond the Klitschko jab.funso banjo baby wrote:Solis and johnson are tailor made for the usual sickening 9th round stoppage.

I think Johnson will cause problems , he has that jab, and seems to be bringing the right hand in more now
