How on earth could the ref have let that continue, he was completely helpless, wincing and with his eyes closed, do you want him to get killed in there?
james. i will say this really carefully. what i am saying, is Taylor had the chance to complain at the interview when the american interviewer lead him in with the question after the fight. the guy was blatantly lookingfor taylor to say 'it was only 10 seconds to go, i was ahead on the cards, etc'. sure, to us the ref shouldn't have let it continue but we all know what some fighters would have ended up saying there

Taylor didn't complain at all he said 'hats off to the ref he was doing his job' so i am saying he is a classy individual.

there is no comment in my post that remotely implies i myself was unhappy with the stoppage. ok? :TU:

Well he impressed me to be honest as I had an incling he might get ko'd even though I did pick him by UD. He didn't make too many mistakes in there and certainly has a better boxing brain than Froch and his ability to slip shots was excellent, you can't fault him on defense. I'm also impressed by his ability to switch and throw straight punches from each stance. His let down was his inside game, which consisted of clinching, he needs to work on his inside game and he'll have the full package. Obviously he was too negative, I'd like to see him let his hands go more.

genuine question i am interested to hear people's thoughts on:

exactly how fast is Dirrell do people think?

the only obvious comparison to me is RJJ

I would say Dirrell is somewhere between Nunn (who he is quicker than) and RJJ, at 168lbs.

you just don't get it, do you? those videos show that Froch was making the fightand since we all know that not only 'the guy making the fight should win' but also 'you have to take the belt off the champ', any scores closer than 188-111 to froch are clearly inept ones

oh and somewhere in there is missing the phrase 'it's not a tickling contest' :TU:

after readin what some people have said on this forum over the past few days, and not seeing the Froch fight until yesterday, I was expecting to see Dirrell beta the sh@t out of Froch...i even saw people use terms like "boxing masterclass" and that Froch was "schooled"...what I saw when I finally watched it was some pansy who was scared of getting hit throwing a few arms length combinations (many of those puches hit Froch's gloves), grabbing at every opportunity, whinging at the ref who then expected that to be enough to take a world champ's title off him...for a schooling watch Calzaghe v Lacy or some early Herol Graham fights...for a boxing masterclass watch Leonard v Duran or a Mike McCallum fight in his early days...

There is no doubt that Dirrell has supreme handspeed and some sublime skills but if he wanted to win the fight using those tactics he needed to hit Froch a lot more than he did. He obviously had the power to hurt him why not get in there and grab the title away? For me he lost the fight by 2 points.

Abraham will crush him as Dirrell seems mentally weak who is unsure about his chin...

Finally to answer the original question Dirrell is a naive rookie

Possibly. It's certainly not the name of a tickling contest.
