Just read a report that said Johansson has been inducted to the boxing hall of fame. But does he deserve it?
He has one big win over Floyd Patterson but would lose in the next two rematches, correct me if I am wrong but I dont think he acomplished much as a pro other then that one big win.

I think indeed he deserves it! In addition to his World hwgt Championship, he was also European Champion twice, knocking out Franco Cavicchi in 1956 and Dick Richardsson in 1962. He defended the title by knocking out world contenders as Henry Cooper, Joe Erskine, Heinz Neuhaus. Though beeing saved by the bell in the last round against Brian London, he largely defended the title.
He gained his title shot at Patterson by knoking out top contender Eddie Machen in the first round in 1958. That victory gave him the "Fighter of the year" by The Ring Magazine, as in 1959.
His only two defeats was against Patterson, but their rubber bout in Miami Beach, 1961, was a thriller that could have gone either way. Both were knocked down several times before Johansson was hit and stopped by a "rabbit punch" in the 6 round, standing up at the count of ten.
Ingemars "Thunder of Thor" is considered as one of the hardest straight right blow of, all time. He could have been a serious threat to Sharkey, Schmeling, Braddock, Marciano, Charles and Walcott, had he boxed the same time. The only blame is he got a little lazy by fame and fortune, a typical scandinavian syndrom.

If Archie Moore was stopped by Marciano in 1955 and by Patterson in 1956, why couldn't Ingo have done it in his prime, as hungry he was against Patterson? With his style, he never lost a decision.
Joe Louis? Remember what Schmeling did in 1936. I think Johansson would have the same chance in Utopia.
Besides, how many europeans are elected to the Hall?

Allright, I don't surrender that easy. Check BoxRec alltime Heavyweight rating. You'll find Mr. Johansson rated nr. 11. He wasn't allowed to play hockey at school because he knocked the trainers out. (Or, was it Bo Hoegberg?).
