He obviously didn't because Holyfield done exactly the same and then got jobbed on the cards.Deno1986 wrote: On the fight itself I really cant see Haye getting to Valuev and expect it to be a boring jab jab jab UD win for Valuev, I think he will have learned his lesson from the Chagaev fight

Haye having a "glass chin" is a myth! He shot his whack against Thompson and got stopped on his feet and got put down against Mormeck at World level only to get back up and knock him out. Valuev will not beat him let alone stop him.Riddick Blowe wrote: it would depend on Haye's glass chin staying out of danger for all 12 rounds.

I think Valuev takes him out within 3 rounds but in terms of spectacle, it is well worth paying for

If this fight isn't worth PPV money I don't know what is

Possibly the first British heavyweight champ since Lewis and the man who, just maybe, will put the excitement back in the heavyweight division.
Keep your justin TV, this is a big screen, get the guys over, put the beers on ice sort of event that I am happy to pay £15 quid for.

PPV & Valuev are words that shouldn't be in the same sentance.

If Valuev vs haye and Pac vs Cotto were PPVs on consecutive weeks (I know this is not the case), I would be dodging the Haye Valuev fight and ordering Pac Cotto without even thinking about it.

please don't make a night of this one unless you're going to enjoy Haye getting sparked quicktime.
I desperately want Haye to win - but I just can't see it.

I'll watch on ARD, off a dish sitting on a chair pointing out my window - nothing too techincal ho ho
It's surely worth PPV though, the dramatics that come with a Brit, a chinny banger at that, going for the hevyweight title just can't be beat. The tension before the first bell is gonna be unbearable.
The size difference is going to make this look a bizzare spectacle, in those press photos, DH looks like a young kid out with his giant dad.
I think it's going to be over early though, I can see Valuev will clattering him inside 3 rounds, though I guess Valuev doesn't hit much harder than Barrett does he?? Just the size of him makes you think, if he punches his weight....

Deffo pay for it. One of my three-a-year quota..
Re: Is Haye-Valuev really worth paying for?
Of course it worth buying!
Re: Is Haye-Valuev really worth paying for?
In Ireland we have to pay over £20 sterling for PPV events, I already pay a lot of money to Sky every month as I'm sure the rest of ye do too. Now I have no bother shelling out the £20+ for shows which have a decent undercard and a really intriging main event but for me this isn't the case here. I'll have no problem getting the fight on Sopcast or TVU and connecting the laptop up to the TV. Btw the odds on a Valuev win are unreal, 3/1 for UD win and 5/1 for a KO win, €20 on both and you have cash in the pocket in my opinion [Boylesports]

Seeing as he's been decked by a super middleweight, I figure Valuev need only punch half his weight.MightyWarrior wrote:I'll watch on ARD, off a dish sitting on a chair pointing out my window - nothing too techincal ho ho

Re: Is Haye-Valuev really worth paying for?
Shame it's PPV, this would have been a good one to put on free, generate a bit more interest in boxing etc from the general sky-watching public. Thats often the problem with potential stars- they just don't get wide enough exposure. 9 out of 10 people probably don't know who Haye is - will they know after a PPV only show? Probably not.
But yeah, business is business and all that...

Re: Is Haye-Valuev really worth paying for?
I heard Martin Lindsay is on the bill as well as Groves
Re: Is Haye-Valuev really worth paying for?
I think Lindsay is on the McCloskey undercard on the Friday night..
I've just had a brainwave though.. Why dont SKY show the Martin Rogan-Sam Sexton card as the undercard fights???Its on the night before but there is no TV coverage. Now I would bloody pay for that, Rogan v Sexton, Alex Arthur, Ricky Burns, Kevin O'Hara, Neil Sinclair and then followed by Valuev-Haye. I would try my best to avoid the result of the Rogan -Sexton fight.

Yeah this is worth buying for sure
This fight has captured the British public and Media's attention unlike any fight since May vs Hatton so the anticipation alone will be worth £15
As for the result, i'd love to see Haye win but i think he'll be slowly beaten up and stopped by around the 10th rd.
People should stop talking about Valuev vs Holyfield as a reason why Haye can win this fight. The rumours are that Valuev carried Holyfield in that fight as he was scared of hurting him and when you look at the comments he made when the fight was first mentioned about how he respected Holyfield but that it would not be a fair and honourable fight for him to take, it does seem to ring true.

David Haye is one of my favourite fighters, just like Tommy Hearns was my favourite fighter growing up.exittored wrote: As for the result, i'd love to see Haye win but i think he'll be slowly beaten up and stopped by around the 10th rd.

I never know whether he's going to win spectacularly or get horribly splattered (or somewhere between the two).
I will say this though: watch the Valuev vs Chagaev fight, & the Taras Bidenko fight, & the Gerald Nobles fight, & the two Ruiz fights, & the Larry Donald fight, & that fight with the big lanky Canadian southpaw who then went on to get splattered in two rounds by Dominick Guinn, & ask yourself:
Has Valuev been carrying everyone he's ever faced that hasn't immediately collapsed at the sight of him? Does he respect & love life so much that he treats every single fighter who doesn't just stand there to get paneled as if they were Mother Theresa, & wishes to save them from a humiliating humbling beneath his mighty fists?
Or is he in fact utter shite?
Whilst I'm sure he's a lovely humanitarian with a rich & splendid inner life, I'm not sure that Nikolai is in fact capable of fighting any less passively than he does. If Haye were any heavyweight other than himself (if you get my drift), I'd back him in a second.
But he's David Haye. He's going to come a cropper, spectacularly, at some point. He's also got bollocks the size of Bethnal Green, which puts him in harm's way more than probably any other British boxer currently fighting (with the possible exception of Carl Froch). So I can't with any certainty predict what's going to happen with him.
Which is why I'll pay to watch the boy fight, every single time.
