Mark Brookes home for Christmas...

Post by bennie »

Mark Brookes, the Swinton man who underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain last week, has been allowed home.
Doctors at Sheffield's Hallamshire Hospital gave him the all-clear after he made "remarkable" progress following the four-hour op on Saturday.
Brookes collapsed at home after being stopped in the final round of his English light-heavyweight title challenge to Peter Haymer at Hillsborough Leisure Centre.
Manager and promoter Dennis Hobson said: "Mark has done so well and everyone is glad to see him back where he belongs. It's brilliant news."
But 25-year-old Brookes faces hard times ahead, mentally. A born fighter, he will never be allowed in a ring again.
We wish him well.

Yep, best wishes to Brookes. Both him and Haymer fought their hearts out and although I was pulling for Haymer, my stomach turned-over when the BBC announced Brookes had been taken to hospital.

Let's hope a some benefit nights will be done for Brookes.

Best wishes to all involve, hope Mark isn't lost to the game. It must be a huge weight of Haymer's shoulder knowing he should make a full recovery.

Mark, you've proved what a fighter you are.

Great news, I just hope he can adjust ok to life outside the ring and doesn't get tempted to get involved with unlicenced fighting.

Respect to the medical team that operated on him as well. :TU:
