Banned middleweight Eugenio Monteiro is turning to 'Caged Kickboxing'.

More details over at BritishBoxing.net.

Sorry if anyone thought it was a bennie style crime thread! 8)

Apparently there might be some BBBC representatives coming to see the show. What a treat for them!

I'm going actually. I've never seen one of these shows before. Monteiro isn't on, he's just making some announcement at the show.

I've seen a few similar fights on the telly - seems like lots of grappling but when an opening comes, it's quite brutal.

Will do mate. I'm actually covering the show for BBN - will be speaking to the now ex-boxer Monteiro and also some amateurs who've decided to go with Mixed Martial Arts rather than boxing to see why. Sort of a boxing fan's perspective on the night.

I'll be the quite short, stocky one with the crew cut. So that narrows it down to about 250 for you!

Cool, I'm covering the show too... I'll say hello if I work out who you are!

It will be interesting to see what you think about the show, and see the reactions to your article amongst the boxing people...

the build up over at sfuk fails to mention why he is actually suspended by the BBBofC....

James Zikic crosses over between boxing and MMA well as does Chris Bacon

Think he was suspended for testing positive for steroids after his stoppage win over Anthony Farnell.
Laughably, the WBU still have him as their middleweight champion.

the butlins from huddersfield will be at the event and im sure they\'d love to give an interview or three :) andy fought martin conception on the barnes/hare undercard.

i wouldnt expect bacon or zikic to be there. jeff monson (the american guy fighting the main event) has a pro boxin record of 2-0 i believe

thats not the whole story unfortunately. if i say anymore a certain promotors legal team may serve me with a legal writ or he just might put a hit out on me

Yes, but FACTS have to be able to substantiated. Something can be true, but if you cannot prove it, then you're screwed.

Monteiro, as far as I can remember, tested positive for both nandrolone and amphetamines after stopping an already knackered Farnell. A second sample confirmed this.

Can remember what ban he got though...he was supposed to be at a board hearing back on August 11th but then I can't remember what happened.

if i see you at the show i can explain the sequences of events i have been told. this would also explain why the WBU still have him as their champion :)
