After the primetime fiasco i was thinking is 15 quid fair? i have sky hd and all sports plus espn so i spend about 60 quid a month on tv..for that i get all the ufc coverage i need but only friday fight night on sky. As a boxin fan i wanna see the fights but i cant afford to pay 15 quid every ppv....i know in america they pay 30 dollars or so but 15 is too steep. Would it not make sense to primetime to charge 5 quid per fight they would get more people tunning in and they dont even run 24 7 365...this would work they dont show hd so 15 quid is too much...i would rather go to bed that night avoid the papers and download it the next day for free..if it was 5 to 8 quid i would pay but 15... i m not rich enough. The haye fight is coming up and i wanna see it but not bad enough to fork out an extra 15 quid on top of the 60 quid i pay.
What are your thoughts? I know boxers need to get paid but these are hard times..if primetime show two fights a month thats an extra 30 quid to pay....just cant do that. Espn charge 9 quid and thats for a month not just one event for that i get all my ufc 2 events a month(sometimes) and the footy so its worth the extra 9 quid to me.
Any one have the same view? or ideas

Re: Pay per view boxing.....costs?
Agreed,I think £15 is expensive, but i still buy most PPV as do most boxing fans as we dont like missing a big fight. If the price starts to creep up then i would think about not buying anymore.
I dont get ESPN as they do not show enough boxing action to make it worth my money.
We need another UK TV company like Setanta who's boxing coverage was brilliant, they had deals with Bob Arum and top promoter in germany too aswell as top domestic action. What they showed for a monthly premium was very good value.
PS - i think HBO charge $50 or more, so our £15 isnt too bad compared to that!

Re: Pay per view boxing.....costs?
I cancelled my Slysports sub over a year ago and Setanta going belly up has also saved me an additional £13 so I don't mind paying £15 once (maybe even twice) a month if it guarantees that all the big fights will be shown. I hated giving my money to Sky when they really don't seem to give a toss about boxing anymore. The worst thing is that they put fornicating adverts in their PPV's, absolute pisstake!
I miss Setanta, even though they weren't problem free :(
Still at least Primetime refunded my money for some reason so i got the fight for free

Agree with what you both say....and it sounds bad but if ufc was ppv and a boxing event was ppv i would prob buy the ufc event due to its value for money and quality control. To many ppv boxing events have a wicked main fight and a very weak undercard that does not help. i think when they do the 24 7 type build up to you are more likely to buy the fight as the build up makes it more of an event.
I thought primetime had a good idea great team...just to pricey for me.
I to miss setanta...never had one problem with it.

If you lived in America you'd have to pay $54.99 for PPVs now, plus cable for ESPN, HBO and Showtime. All for a reduced wage.
We are lucky.

Re: Pay per view boxing.....costs?
I usually pay for the ppv events, but £15 isn't cheap and it is a serious commitment for boxing fans. I think the £15 hurts more now there is no Setanta to be honest. Having all those American cards throughout the year made the ppv events feel like an extra bonus, where we got to see our own fighters take on the international stars. Now its just a case of paying the £15 cause thats the only legitimate access to international boxing on UK television. It might cost more for boxing in the US, but at least there broadcasters have a dedicated interest in the sport and offer boxing at all levels from all nations. I'd rather have access to all the boxing fights that happen and not be able to afford to pay for them all than have the limited access we have here in the UK right now.
