Matchroom hosting EBU Heavyweight title in London
Apparently in London on 18th December there's the EBU heavyweight title fight between Paolo Vidoz and Albert Sosnowski promototed by Matchroom.
Sounds like it could be a start to a good line up but wonder why it's in London and where. I've had a look on Matchrooms website but can't seem to see anything about it.
Does anyone have any more news about this?
thanks

Possibly relying on ticket sellers being on the undercard.
Who does matchroom have at the moment?

Albert Sosnowski lives in Brentwood, Essex, where Matchroom Sports are based. It looks like Barry Hearn is giving his fighter every opportunity to grab the title.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the following boxers *may* be with Matchroom Sport:whicker wrote:Possibly relying on ticket sellers being on the undercard.

Paul McCloskey
Paul Appleby
Paul Truscott
All Pauls.

None local to London, though.
Presumably he is going to want some local ticket-sellers on the bill?

I expect to see A force on the Undercard.... he NEEDS to be.
Re: Matchroom hosting EBU Heavyweight title in London
Yep. Audley on undercard, then facing the champ.
I won't speculate further into the future than that. I'll leave it to A-Force.
But unified champ in 2011 does have a ring to it.

Albert sells about 150 tickets when he's fighting Lithuanian farm-hands in six rounders so he may do even better with a bit of Hearn star-dust from this.
Re: Matchroom hosting EBU Heavyweight title in London
Sosnowski is quite well known in Poland, he does commentary for Polish boxing. So I guess he could sell a few tickets here.
Plus, its not just about the bums on seat... I would guess a few European TV channells will be interested in this. Italian TV, Polish TV etc.

I'd be surprised if this didn't sell out , with the amount of polish working over here. And they make a good atmosphere.

Historicly Matchroom have had a relationship with Polish TV, the sport is very popular there, and they have previously funded their showswhicker wrote:You mean people still live there????Coco wrote:More importantly Polish TV will buy the rights
Re: Matchroom hosting EBU Heavyweight title in London
this is a rematch, isn't it? sosnowski was held to a controversial draw, in germany, on i think the povetkin-estrade card which was shown on setanta.
anyway, forget this. polish fight of the century on saturday! adamek v golota!

It's what's known as a "joke." But seriously, I'm a bit Polish myself, so that makes it OK.DavidPayne wrote:Jeez. The Daily Mail not get delivered today?

One of my grandparents was a Polish Jew, who came here as a child. I know a lot of polish people, 3rd generation and new migrants, and I don't think any would take offense.

Thats cool- I can see where you were coming from! But its a bit of an "internal" joke. I'm part Polish Jew, part Irish Catholic- the list of jokes I can make about "my lot" are... endless!DavidPayne wrote:Sorry mate. I'm tetchy today.
