Re: Jason Rushton
Prior to this Jason had lost his last four (admittedly against quality opposition) he was coming of two stoppage defeats and eight months inactivity, WHY was he permitted to take part in a ten rounder against an unbeaten prospect?
Jason was ‘protected’ early in his career, going unbeaten in his first thirteen and picking up the Central Area title, but since the Gary Woolcombe fight in 2007 he’s been horribly over matched
You could not meet a braver fighter or a nicer bloke, I pray that he recovers from this without any impairment
No one comes out of this with much credit, Johnny Rushton and the Central Area Council need to answer some serious questions

i'm not sure that the Leeds boy that stopped him in a round was all that to write home about...not saying he wasn't any good...but he'd had less fights than Rushton I believe, but what has he done/ is he doing since?? Apologies, the name escapes me.
This said, I knew a little bit about Rushton, although I knew nothing of the opponent Brian(??) Rose....only that he was unbeaten, and looking at his weigh in interview he looked very, very focused, strong and confident...i.e. not somebody you'd f*ck about with unless you were accomplished and going places, at least domestically...IMO.

Unfortunatly this does seem something of a mismatch.endgame wrote:Prior to this Jason had lost his last four (admittedly against quality opposition) he was coming of two stoppage defeats and eight months inactivity, WHY was he permitted to take part in a ten rounder against an unbeaten prospect?

Danny Reynolds is a very strong, aggressive fighter.I think he has had a few out of the ring problems since, but at the time of the Rushton bout, was getting a big push.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:endgame wrote:Prior to this Jason had lost his last four (admittedly against quality opposition) he was coming of two stoppage defeats and eight months inactivity, WHY was he permitted to take part in a ten rounder against an unbeaten prospect?
