Is Kessler being overated in the super 6 series?

Post by stevieb_8006 »

nearly every1 has made him the favourite in the series, people r already writing off frochs chancesmin their match up, but looking at Kesslers record, who has he actually fought? Mundine? Librado Andrade is an ok name i suppose....

I feel hes being given way to much credit for giving calzaghe 4 hard rounds.

Beyer was 100 when they fought.

no I would say at this stage he is by far the best fighter and rightfully the favourite. In my opinion he'll beat Frcoh and may well stop him

I dont think he's overrated at all. He effectively matched Calzaghe punch for punch and pushed him right to the end. Calzaghe rates his win over Kessler as his best... i think that says it all really.

Classy finish... classy operator

A little overated maybe, but I still make him the slight favourite. Ward looks like his toughest test.

Overrated? No, I personally don't think so. Don't get me wrong, there's no-one on his record that you wouldn't have expected him to beat, but at the same time there's along list of lower-end world class operators there and he's dealt with them all convincingly (Calzaghe aside obviously).

Reckon he's a justifiable favourite, however Ward is definitely in with a decent shout and 7 less than competitive rounds in 17 months won't do Kessler any favours.

I think Ward will beat Kessler via points. Abraham to win the tournament imo though!

stylistically, ward probably is his toughest test

ward is still very inexperienced at top level though. you have to assume Kessler will deal with the pressure etc better, after 50,00 at the millenium vs JC, i don't suppose much will get him overawed nowadays

plus kessler hasn't got a dodgy chin to protect :TU:

As much as I'd like Froch to win, I'm worried from his last 2 fights his iron chin is beginning to rust. Kessler to stop Froch in 8.

Once you have been floored, I think it increases the chances of it happening again. Froch takes far too many punches and these guys are all big hitters. Kessler was too slow for the much faster Calzaghe but Froch will suit Kessler who will aim to get the KO.

I don't think he's overrated - he pushed Calzaghe very hard indeed, he may or may not win this, but he's going to figure in it.

Kessler's hand was shot going into the Calzaghe fight and they tried to entertain a date change but they weren't having none of it.

Once the injections wore off, Kessler was out of the Calzaghe fight. But in the beginning he was right in it.

He's not overated at all in my book. A very strong, effective all rounder.

And Froch was floored by Taylor and hurt by Dirrell. Kessler is much more of a complete package compared to Froch and should win clearly.

Yeah I agree, Abraham has been my favorite since this competition was anounced but I do not enough about Ward to make a good judgement.

No.I predict an Abraham -Kessler final, and I think Kessler will win the whole tournament. Abraham can be outboxed and if gets behind on points to Kessler, I think he will stay behind.I think Kessler might even knock him out.I like Kessler becaue he is such an accurate puncher, throws combinations, is relaxed in there, has fast hands and has massive punching power.Even his jabs are stiff.

He'll need to.

Ward is very very talented, and is a bit more well rounded than Dirrell from what I've seen. He's the sleerp in the tournament for me.

People expecting him to win without upset are overrating him, I think he is a big rigid as a boxer, which doesn't make him a bad boxer but its something the likes of Ward/Dirrell may expose

I'm just wondered how easily big ole Mikkel makes 168 pounds.

A disciplined, clean liver but still he's a big mofo for Super-Middle.
