berto "just" seems to be one of those mid top 10 fighters with a bit of sizzle who find themselves getting HBO paydays and big fights lined up because of who promotes him and because he's proably willing to play ball with golden boy promiotion who seemingly have the lion's share of TV dates.

he's not particularly brilliant, he probably doesn't draw big anywhere. but he's likely still learning, does have some dynamic speed/power and can be exciting.

you just don't find yourself thinking, bloody hell -- where's berto -- i need to see him in action again -- i'm getting feverish -- when's his next fight??? -- War Berto (ugh, sounds like a load of bread)

He is the second coming of Jeff Lacy.

no way. :shame:

he's worlds better.

watch him beat on estrada.

lacy struggled with tsypko.

a european level fighter who u could compare with michel trabant.

berto owned trabant like he was nothing.

The Tsypko fight came after the Calzaghe beating, my comparrison is Berto been hyped as much as Lacy was before he was found out, the same way Berto will be found out against Mosley, it won't even be close.

by the way rix if i was making a cheeky type prediction it would be Berto doimnates much of the fight, shane looks awful for long periods like vs Mayorga, KTFO's berto late to come from behind.
Yeah, that's why I was salivating at the prospect of this fight when Berto had just won the title. The more time that passes, though, the more chance Berto has of winning. I could see Berto getting knocked down early but then rallying to win/lose a close decision.

Shane blamed the Mayorga performance on being in the wrong weight class.
Agreed I pick Mosley but age might catch up with Mosley and Berto may end up being faster, hungrier and fitter.

oe tbing about mosley. not very fluid these days, and quite old. he relies on holding a heck of a lot. someone should be able to batter him. obviously it's why he's going for berto and not lirva's boy, paul williams, the scourge of every weight class he fights in.

I don't remember him holding in the Margarito fight. Are you sure?

when it suited him he would hit Margarito and fall in after the punch, mainly to stop Toni working on the inside. didn't do it that often but it was there, nice 'old man' skills IMO :TU:

Dont blame him for not fighting Williams, would be a nightmare in his prime nevermind at 38.

I wonder how people would be analysing this fight straight after Mosley's Mayorga performance where he nearly lost, is the Margarito win flattering?

Here's the Knock Down when he fought Rivera-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQK0QW6FSRQ

He has obviously improved since then but as we all know you can't improve your chin. He was visibly shaken and after the 8 count staggers back to his corner looking dazed. You can't help feeling the punch had come in the middle of the round he could have been stopped. I seriously think SSM takes him out before the 12th.

Peachy shot. Rivera made Berto flinch before throwing it. Nice feinting. I'd like to see Mosley do that.

I think SSM is a classier fighter than Rivera and should have all the moves plus more power.
