Its an American friend who I e-mail who is really a big fan of IJL, he says a good referee is someone who you really do not take any notice of. I agree with him, when IJL is officiating he never gets heavily involved and you do often forget he is there.
"I am the referee" this is actually a good thing to say, its a catchphrase which gets him noticed before the fight and could earn him some big paydays in the US - Like Joe "I'm fair but I'm firm" Cortez and Mills "lets get it on" Lane.

I would say that Ian John Lewis is the best ref in Britain.
Bruno was notorious for his holding and hitting. It used to annoy me how he could get away with holding round the back of the head with one glove and smacking away with the other.
