I am a Joe Calzaghe fan, but when I read this I thought he was being a bit of a pr1ck and cop out....I mean of course he would smash Alex Reid or in fact any other cage fighter, most probbaly at any weight if kicking and takedowns were not allowed.

And I got to be honest if Joe walked into the cage with no experience and didn't knock the guy out in 10 seconds a la (I think) Ray Mercer vs That Sasquatch looking UFC guy Tim Sylvia, Reid would take him down and then his boxing is largely useless.

But it's a very silly thing for calzaghe to say - and unfortunately he seems to have lately got a taste for celeb PR....

I would say he would take alex reid anyway. Maybe not a world class MMAist but a second rater like alex reid could get beaten up in most pubs in england.

Can we not have some sort of round robin tournament, featuring Joe, Reid, Jordan and Andre, where they all hammer each other to such an extent that they're never heard of again? Is that too much to ask?

I seen his record

Its something like 7 wins with 6 losses and 1 KO

Something like that

He had not fought in 2 years until he met Jordan then cashed in on the publicity by fighting recently for the first time in years

He is not a serious cage fighter - he is a part time inactive journeyman
that's a lie because i watched him fight back in june or something like that.before he was wiv jordan.he is shockin tho. his stand up is crap.his ground game is even worse
Reid just looks like a big thick Dick Head to me.........never mind Calzaghe...I wouldn't rule out Peter Andre doing the job. Did you see those abs he used to have.......he'd lull the thick, "I need to make money off my Bint" Reid into a false sense of security with a little "woooooaaaahh oh oh oh oh oh.....my-ster-ious girl I wanna get close to you...oo oo......then BANG!! Knock the big daft dress wearing gorilla spark out :box:

im guessin your not a calzaghe fan

grade a hypocrite, all those years telling everyone he couldnt fight abroad due to his fear of flyinh, then going on holiday to sardinia and being ringside for de la hoya mosely 2..how did you get there then Joe swim?

All those years fighting no hopers then taking on fighters way past their best and claiming to be a legend killer..(three years after statign in his book he wouldnt fight jones for example).

All those "injuries" that caused him to pull out v glenn johnson three times then never fight him..more like his sphinctal muscle went.

All that shit about im just humble Joe and now he cant get out of the spotlight with any cheap load of bollox...

the man is despicable thick as shit hypocrite. the sooner he fades to bolivian the better.

Its just a knee jerk reaction to the fact he's rattling jordan. I'd imagine alex reid is a hard bastard, whether people on here think it or not.

[quote= Flint Island wrote Coco knows the boxing shed at the bottom of my garden.[/quote]

That shed of yours in an infamous den of gimpage and leather. Having met Coco I doubt he would ever veture into your shed, in fact, I`m sure of it.

For the sake of humanity, burn that shed down, before it gets you in serious trouble

Yes alex reid isnt the best of the mma fighters but look at who he has fought............

Ninja Rua

Matt Ewin

yes not two legends , but respected up and comers in the mma game. I would not like to enter the caged game and I certainly feel mr Reid is not short of the minerals
All these posters laughing at him. How long in seconds do you think you would last seriously
Is there anyone on this forum who thinks they would stand a chance of surviving for 2-3 minutes
We are here to talk boxing mate. There are some fighters here and some who aren't fighters. I am in college and did a bit of boxing here and there as a youngster, had 3 fights and won them all on points but it was nothing serious. Fighting is his job, so you'd expect him to be able to beat the average man.

Think you've got the wrong end of the stick. Im assuming Poodle was responding to thsoe who think Reid would be beaten by "average bloke in the pub", as stated somewhere in the thread.

He had his arse handed to him on many occasions against really bad fighters, he is simply not very good but has balls to do it in the 1st place.

I'm sorry I really wouldn't think so. Even an average cage fighter would beat up the man in the pub/street etc..have you seen many fights in the street?

Most of them are embarassing.

Reid did also beat Lee Murray who's a very tough man, and a two-tim London ABA champion told me Lee Murray was one the hardest hitters he had seen, if not skilful from a boxing perspective.
Most pubs in england are full of boxers, kick boxers or cage fighters - my local for example has 1 british HW kick boxing champion, 1 MW midlands kick boxing champion, 1 current or ex (cant remember) midlands cruiser weight boxing champion, and me and about 8 of my amature cage fighting mates also a guy who was on danny dyers deadliest men last season.

JC doing a decent enough job keeping himself visible in the junk dumbed-down media what with stuff like this and Come Dancing.

Soon every fuckwit in the country will know his name which they didn't during his boxing career.

I hope Joe does take him on. Calzaghe will spark him! Then, hopefully, he gives Jordon one just for good measure.

Alex dresses up as a woman, what a fcuking panzy. Jordon is virtually up for it with any guy, so why not try your luck, Joe? :D
