Kind of puerile if you ask me.

I think they are all A fighters and have achieved much; some in different ways. I will give Zora a gentleman's A

If Zora, Oscar & patterson are A's, we need a higher letter grade for the rest of them. though DelaHoya is somewhat arguable. I'd give Oscar a B, Patterson a B- & Zora a charitable C.

The Clueless who are desperate to associate themselves with 'boxing'

compulsively offer their useless 'ratings' of fighters.

I have never known any competent boxing person to waste his time with such nonsense.

I find ratings hard too...and I do not buy into the whole P4P thing.
Fighters fight according to there size and shape etc, so a style of
ability is determined by what body you are in. For better or worse.
So to be P4P is daft.

And what is the criteria of ratings of greats ?
Head to head and peak... its almost never under this criteria.
P4P...see above.
Boxing achievements and legacy ? perhaps. But then I am here to
discuss fighters and fights and not how some one sits in a historical
or culture context.

P4P is definitely retarded, but it doesn't take much to separate Zora Folley from Muhammad Ali

Agreed it does not take much to separate those two.

But some peoples criteria for placing fighters higher
than others is unique.

Its an exercise that so called boxing academics and
arm chair ring generals get into. The whole P4P thing.

I prefer rating according to head to head match ups.

granberry myself and God Almighty are the only ones privy to the true ratings list (page 745,764,317 of the Akashic record).

Granberry who once used to comprise such lists on nearly a weely basis thinks the topic is stupid NOW because God Almighty rates certain fighters a bit higher than he does. They've had quite the falling out over this subject and granberry has been cranky ever since it was etched in stone. Granberry used to concoct fictitious boxers names in order to slide certain boxers names further and further down the list. And then the big guy caught him baring false witness and things aint been the same since between these two.
