No disrespect to bomber, of course- but the opponent lost this one with a very silly mistake. He didn't look hurt, just looking at his corner for instruction, when he should have been defending himself.

Bomber was in the right, of course- and from the ref it seemed more of a "what else can I do" stoppage.

In the past, when fighters were given nicknames rather than choosing them, this could have earned him the nickname "no mercy."

bellew looks very lean and sharp. i think he looks a better prospect than cleverly, who to me is abit repetitive, bit predictable despite some good speed, body punching and experience. there is power and variety in bomber's work - sometimes you need to have a sensational quality to go far in boxing. sometimes - as with cleverly - it is about being solid. perhaps if we keep watching, we'll see who's who. i know you're not allowed to say anything about cleverly, because he's done things at british and commonwealth level already (disclaimer).

I've long been on the bomber bandwagon and he's a great lad but jesus christ he did embarrass himself with that celebration after beating a journeyman. I couldn't believe it and it reminded me of Hatton falling to his knees and raising his arms in the air after beating 40 year old journeyman tony pep. no need for the ridiculous celebrations after beating journeymen bomber, come on mate. he was clearly excited! it was a big step up in class and he ate him up. he was shocked at how easy he got him out of there. lets not forget the last person velecky fought, went the distance with paul smith,and velecky k.od him in 1 round. bellew got him out of there in 1 minute. ok he went a little nuts but whats wrong with that? he done an amazing job, and i know cleverly will watch that and take allot of notice and so he should!

iv said this before, bellew is gunna get hold of cleverly 1 day and destroy him, i dont expect people to agree with my view coz they see cleverly on a regular basis, and are rightly so impressed. but i know when bellew fights cleverly, he is going to hurt him in a very bad way, people who dont know bellew think hes just a puncher. haha, well what they dont know is that bellew is a great tactician and when he fights some1 who is a boxer, they will be very surprised at how bellew is able to box and doesnt just go out trying to k.o people.

I'm not sure. Velecky certainly can bang- his record shows that- but he's 35, and lost a few (some by stoppage) and lets be honest, Velecky's opposition has been somewhat limited.

To call it a "step up in class" is somewhat debatable. A potentially dangerous opponent, for sure, but I think the real step up in class would be eg McIntosh.

For sure, it was a good win, and a strong performance- and I can understand the joy at stopping a guy who is a noted puncher so early- but lets not read TOO much into it.

you keep talking about cleverly. clev is fighting for the ebu title later this year.and bomber won't even fight for the british title this year i dont think!! cleverly is a LONG way ahead of bomber at the minute.I have no doubts that clev will become world champon in around 12-18 months. probs 2 or 3 years before bomber make's it onto the world stage IF HE DOES.then they will fight. cleverly by mid-late stoppage if the fight happened today. havn't seen bellew go past 4 yet.
