Hatton To Travel To Oz?

The word is that with the Murad Muhammed interest in Kostya Tszyu Ricky Hatton may have to visit Australia as possibly the first of a four fight Tszyu package with Gatti, Mayweather and De La Hoya to come afterwards. Muhammed rightfully asks "Why would Kostya want to fight allegedly's man allegedly's terms in allegedly's backyward?"

This is more or less clear evidence that the Hatton-Tszyu fight is no closer to being made anywhere in the world.

allegedly has rubbished the claims of a rival promoter which threatened to put Ricky Hatton's world title challenge to Kostya Tszyu in jeopardy.

American Murad Muhammad insisted yesterday he had offered Tszyu a lucrative four-fight deal which would involve Hatton having to go to Sydney for a crack at the IBF light-welterweight crown.

But Warren claims he is getting closer to an agreement with Tszyu's existing management team, in which Muhammad has no part to play.

Warren said: "I have negotiated solely with Kostya Tszyu's promoter Vlad Wharton and I cannot deal with anyone else to make this fight happen.

"Wharton has confirmed to me and [Showtime network chief] Jay Larkin that terms for a Tszyu-Hatton fight have been agreed.

"In addition, a letter from Tszyu's manager Matt Watt was faxed to me by Wharton confirming that he wants the fight with Hatton - and that is their position."

Muhammad's boast that the fight is heading down under appears a non-starter because of American pay-per-view politics.

Showtime are very unlikely to invest in an event involving such a big time delay, but their money is needed to make the fight happen.

Hatton's home of Manchester remains the ideal compromise, with the fight between two non-Americans unlikely to attract anywhere near as much interest in the States.

Warren is confident that Tszyu is now happy to travel to England if only because of the shortage of realistic options for him elsewhere.

Tszyu's dream of major fights with Arturo Gatti and Floyd Mayweather is unlikely because they compete on rival television networks.

He faces being stripped of his IBF title if he fails to agree terms to meet his mandatory challenger Hatton.

Tszyu's promoter should come out say that he offered the fight in Australia. They won't have no-where to go then. What possible problem would he have going down under? He could make history and win it on his soil. A victory their should happen to pull it off would be all the more sweeter.

FW is a complete dickhead. Hatton will never face a decent fighter as long as he promotes him. Hatton is the challenger and should be expected to fight for the title away from home.

Not true Ben. Not all champions defend titles at home and they never have. Ricky will fight anywhere but Tszyu will have to come to Manchester because of TV timing. It's morning here when it's night time in Australia - nobody is going to get the morning off work to watch boxing (well I would!). Here all boxing is on Sky TV and usually 10pm start.

On Kostya Tsyzu's website they have a poll saying who is the true no 1 contenders for the superlightweight crown and Hatton's got the most votes.

All i was trying to say is that normally the champion dictates the terms of the fight, Instead Warren has angered Tszyu by declaring this fight before anything is signed and now the fight probably won't go ahead.

I know it might be hard for u to understand but outside of England Hatton is a joke he pulled out of a title shot because they couldn't get there own way and it could be history repeating it self again.

If it happens in Manchester it wont be a 10pm start as showtime will want to show the fight live. More like 2-3am.

If it happens in Australia, that means a 2pm start.

If it happens in Manchester, that means a 4am start.

But we all know it's not going to happen because Hatton has proved he is scared to fight the best. Not going to happen.

I hope it does though. Then some people will finally realise that Hatton is not as good as they think.

Yes, I don't see why it makes much different to showtime where the fight is broadcast from, so long as it's screen for live primetime in the US. I don't see what difference a couple of hours makes.

Haven't they shown some of Tszyu's other fights from Oz anyhow?

If the fight is at around lunchtime on sunday here it will be prime time Saturday night in the US just like the Lieja fight. We see all the fights from there and they start at about 12pm on Sunday.

Yes, we've seen fights from Australia before. Why not simply put the fight in the US, on neutral ground, and end of story? Why can't Hatton fight anywhere but Manchester? Laughable.

Cannot wait to see how Fwank weasles his way out , if Zoo comes back of holidays and says , Make it happen , Usa or Australia , with Hatton getting 25% challengers money.

Poor old Fwank will be spitting out his cornflakes has he's choking, Hatton will ring him and say but Fwank you promised me he would'nt fight, you promised me he'd move up weight and i'd fight Ndou, Fwank ya promised.

Don't worry son i've got it covered we will tell the world , he's refusing to fight for fack all , here in Manchester , vacate the number one position , bring Tackie out of retirement and tell em 2006 is gonna be the year for Ricky the hitman Hatton
