In the UK NOW..

I say Froch gets it with his wins in the last 7 months.

Pascal - Taylor and Dirrell.

What say you?

Just vote - we are talking current form.

Dirrell, Taylor and Pascal are probably all under Malignaggi in PFP rankings right now.

Is this your P4P rankings? Dirrell and Pascal should be way above Malignaggi.

pascal.

for doing what?

beating diaconu.

least diaz has achieved in his career.

diaconu was much hyped but never looked much when i'd seen him on a few undercards.

and branco even getting sanctioned by the wbc was a joke.

It’s a tough call this one. Froch’s most recent form is the most impressive given Hatton lost last time out and Haye has barely had a fight. But then you have to look at what you believe p4p to mean and how far back you’re willing to go. Haye was undisputed at cruiser and has moved up to try for a belt at heavyweight. That’s enough for me to side with him although I can totally understand opting against him on the basis of inactivity and having not proved anything at heavyweight.

I guess this weekend will answer a lot of questions. If Haye takes the belt (which will mean either a ko or an absolute dominance for him to get the decision) then I don’t see any argument for Froch above him.

Total madness. Based on what? Losing to Hatton?

Froch is number one. Hatton has lost two out of his last four, Haye is unproven at heavyweight. Froch is world champion and beaten three world class fighters in his last three outings.

Dirrell is yet to prove himself to be truly world class, Taylor has done nothing at super middleweight, Pascal is a champ at light heavy via the easiest opponent, though I think Pascal could beat a few of the others at light heavy.

I'd give Froch #1 spot on activity alone, Haye hasn't beaten anybody world class since 2007 and that was down a division, Hatton has beaten two men who he was expected to beat and lost clearly to two men he wasn't expected to beat.

1. Froch
2. Hatton
3. Haye

Although Haye jumps to #1 if he beats Valuev.

the sad fact is.

even if he'd lost that decision to dirrell.

he would still be no1.

based on those 2 wins over pascal and taylor.

haye's performance on saturday could change all that though.

he's got more talent than froch.

it's just a case of him delivering. :TU:

I'd have to say Froch on recent form is p4p best but if Haye wins against Valuev then he would replace Froch as number 1 imo

Diaz? What has Malignaggi done besides being beaten every time he has stepped up into genuine world class? He first became a name by taking a shellacking from Cotto and running his mouth. The highlight of his career was beating NDou for the title who let's face it was getting outboxed by fighters years before. Malignaggi also had a huge struggle with Ngoudjo which the scorecards didn't reflect at all. Malignaggi is brave i'll give him that.

Its gotta be:

1. Haye
2. Froch
3. Hatton

Haye is the linear cruiserweight champ and active in the heavyweight division. Froch is current WBC world champ and actively seeking to obtain the undisputed title. And Ricky Hatton is currently retired in all but name and has been knocked out in 2 of his last 4 fights and hasnt fought for nearly 8 months.

Hatton's past-achievements (e.g beating KT, Moussa, Collazo, Urango, Castillo) unfortunately dont hold any weight in this debate for those achievements are not recent enough and therefore do not accurately reflect what level Hatton is now performing at.

For the record I genuinely believe that in any event Haye's defeat of Mormeck in Paris out-does anything Hatton has achieved in his career.

diaz was a former unified champ who many thought lost to malignaggi last time out.

pascal has won a title belt against a hype job in diaconu.

diaconu has done diddly except for getting a no 1 slot in the wbc.

has pascal done anymore than paulie in his career.

that's the point i was making.

froch is british p4p no1 right now and deservedly so.

his last performance means the slot is up for grabs though. ;;-)

completely disagree with that.

the mormeck win was 2 yrs ago.

ancient history in p4p debates surely. :o

haye has been inactive for the last yr and froch has racked up 3 good wins.

hell even hatton got the paulie win in that time. :OhYes:

on talent haye is the best.

but he needs to fight to claim the no1 slot. :>

I agree. I was merely pointing out for the record that I thought Haye's defeat of Mormeck was more significant than Hatton's defeat of KT, which is very often referred to as the high-point of Hatton's career.

hitman_hatton1 wrote: haye has been inactive for the last yr and froch has racked up 3 good wins.
I disagree that Froch has "racked up 3 good wins" but I will accept that on paper he has obtained victories over 3 decent/good fighters (we have to accept that Pascal and Dirrell were unknown quantities). But to be honest I cant really argue against Froch being number 1 ahead of Haye in light of the year that Froch has had and the path that he has taken.

But lets not forget, Haye had been inactive for the past year for two major reasons:

1. He's had to pack on a sh1t load of weight and build himself up in order to fill out into a heavyweight having come up from Cruiserweight; and
2. He was due to have fought Wlad Klitschko on the 20th June but that fight fell through for the obvious Setanta reason.
hitman_hatton1 wrote: hell even hatton got the paulie win in that time. :OhYes:
Yeah... exactly 7 whole days after Haye's victory over Monte Barrett!! Remember Hatton got smashed by Pacman in May, that was only 1 month prior to Haye's scheduled bout with Klitschko. Hardly work shy is our David.

I'm not saying Pascal has achieved more than Malignaggi. Paulie hasn't really achieved all that much and Pascal's record is a bit bare admittedly but I don't view P4P as solely on who has achieved more, I factor ability too and that is why I would have both Dirrell and Pascal much higher than Paulie. If Paulie had done something then I would factor that in but despite all the hype surrounding him I don't think he has. Dirrell and Pascal will feature in some big match ups in the future and have exciting times ahead, I think Malignaggi may have had his already.

P4P discussion is always going to be a pain. :TU:
