What happened to David Appleby ?

Remember seeing him draw with Peter ALlen (i think) in Liverpool. he looked, as they would say in Scotland, "like a wee kid". Did the Scott, who I heard at ringside some had high hopes for, just fizzle away after that one, heart not in it ?
