Amir Khan in the Light Welterweight Super 4 tournament

Sounds like a load of bollocks if im honest.

Why would Khan, who beats up on weak opposition for huge chunks of cash, go in with a banger like Maidana, a craft southpaw in Devon Alexander and GBP bribe-job like Ortiz?

Hardly the creme de la creme are they? yet have significant risk.

If Khan was the champion he says he is, then if there is any truth in this then he should be involved.

But with wazza controlling everything, i cant see it happening unless HBO pour big money in...which they are capable of.

Actually I think the super six would have been better if it had eight fighter and worked likes this quarter final then semi final then a final. The four quarter finals could have been done over two nights. Then semi finals both at same venue.

the kneejerk khan-haters like gomez and autobarn would be falling over themselves to explain why Maidana Alexander and Ortiz were never all that good anyway, despite having said they were too dangerous for Khan and thus Warren would avoid them. you would see how all of a sudden Maidana for gomez would turn from a 'banger' into a 'crude slugger who couldn't beat Kotelnik', Alexander would become a 'slappy southpaw' (copywright autobarn) and we have all already of course been told that Ortiz has no heart, so i guess the excusus for that Khan win have already been given to you boys....

sorry CP but you are banG (with a yorkshire pickpocket emphasis on the G) out of order on that and I don't like being lumped in a "kneejerk khan hater" category. this also seems to have implications of racism and intolerance - to hate khan in kneejerk fashion. hater is a silly internet term, i've always felt. i think you know from my posts i prefer aggressive and exciting boxers because i got sick of seeing relics of hopkins, toney, barrera make big paydays, take the TV dates of more willing/exciting warriors. khan = the establishment = warren = boring = many mismatches, which i prefer not to watch. honestly, i felt same way about hatton during 14 WBU defenses - no drama!, knocking over chairs in dressing rooms and just as easily knocking over overmatched foes in ring - and he was pretty damn aggressive.

it's dodgy territory speaking for other ppl and assuming what, say, me and g0mez would say. i'm not bothered about khan, as a fan. as someone who follows the sport aka business, i can appreciate the value of the win over kotelnik. kotelnik, a fighter i always rated. i don't see the reason that ppl should support khan autmatically. i just am not bothered about him, which isn't the same as "hater!"

khan and ortiz were due criticism for their defeats. spectacular, epic misfires. khan, on his PPV debut! ortiz, groomed as the next legend, and saying how "i don't like getting hit like that" in post fight interview. anyway, who cares if there are khan haters and ortiz haters, when they willcarry on getting all the big chances regardless?

anyway, back to the adamek, abraham, moore, murray, and macklin...and bazza, the best body puncher for...

meh, i lost an answer i posted here, quick version is:

sorry yes pigeonholing is not good neither is assuming we can speak for others. although, you and gomez have form where khan is concerned, in a 'never had a good thing to say about him' sense. as for racism, obviously not only did i not mention it, but if anyone on here were to talk about prejudices where you are concerned, they would be to do with fighters from the North west with tight guard and intelligent pressure tactics

plus i think my substantive point- if khan were to win the tourney or even just beat Maidana- there would be all kinds of retrospective revisionism, whereby maidana would go from this fabled tough argentinian banger, to a plodding limited slugger with no plan b- i think this point is true, as far as the forum 'logic' tends to go, anyway

also, apologies but its just that 'hater' is much quicker and more concise than 'not one of fighter x's biggest fans'
