I have been wanting this fight for a long time lets hope to comes off

Amir Khan Invited To Face Scottish Champ Hastie
Amir Khan has been invited to fight Scotland's lightweight/and current four nations champion Mark Hastie in Greenock next year.

Greenock ABC coach, Danny Lee, made the invitation for the Olympic silver medalist to face Hastie on the Western Select v London Select show that takes place at Greenock Town Hall on the 28th of February.

The Bolton based amateur is expected to fight on the Joe Calzaghe undercard in Manchester on the 11th of February, following the announcement that amateurs would be allowed to fight on professional cards in England after a deal between the English ABA and allegedly's Sports Network. Danny Lee is hoping that the opportunity to box on a club show will be enough to tempt Khan north of the border shortly afterwards.

Why would Khan bother?

Thats the amatuer equivalent of David McKenna inviting Lennox Lewis for a "showdown"....

What it is the Scottish western and Scottish Senior champion, and also on paper currently Four nation champion, dont know if you seen it on t.v bbc1 i think , Hastie took apart best england senior and irelands.

so prob biggest test khan will face in britain.

no bad wee fighter would be a good scrap up here in scotland, Hastie is a legend up in scotland, so if it goes to the judges khan could get a dody one,

I'm not saying it wouldn't be an "interesting" fight, but I doubt very much i would be hi on the agenda for Khan having just made the Olympic final. Did Hastie enter the olympic qualifiers?

There's levels and there's levels. With all due respect Hatie is not on Khan's. Interestingly, neither Scotland nor Wales won a single Olympic qualifier.

which was slightly surprising. Our best chances would have been either tony doherty or mike allen both of which turned pro, tony succesfully, Mike not so (so far).

Our best chance for the worlds will probably be Justin Jones at light heavy. The footballer Mickey thomas' Son Aaron is current welter champion although im pretty confident he can be easily outboxed, he is a slugging come forward fighter who will beat most ams as long as they fight a dog fight, however he has been outboxed a couple of times that I've seen (once against doherty).

All the way as in Proper world title??? Hard to predict that far in the future but as things are looking defo british/commonwaelth/european in my opinion and then hopefully a major belt. need to watch but as good old frank is wanting to take charge of him and yeah he will go all the way then all they way to being the undefated wbu champ.

BOXING: IT'S NO KHAN DO FOR HASTIE Dec 27 2004
MARK HASTIE last night admitted weight has cost him the chance of taking on Olympic boxing star Amir Khan.

It has been suggested the Motherwell-based fighter will face the Athens hero in Glasgow in February.

But Hastie has dismissed the reports and insisted he's too heavy for the proposed bout.

He said: 'Despite being the present British four nations lightweight champion, the sad truth is I will never see lightweight again. I'm just too heavy.

'I'll be boxing for Scotland next month against Norway at light-welterweight.

'I would love to box Khan but the fact is I can't get down to the lightweight limit any more and I doubt if Khan would be interested in an overweight bout.'

But Cumbernauld's Mitch Prince has admitted he'd gladly take Hastie's place should the organisers of the West of Scotland v English select manage to lure Khan north.
