leforge is saying terrez is biased, but to me it seems the other way round.

It was a great result for Sexton. He seems like he's lacking something mentally; he sometimes appears to switch off. If he could show better stamina and a bit of fire he could do very well.

Bring on Sexton vs Williams. I think that'll be a good fight.

It was a good result I thought, don't know why folk are being so down on Sexton.

He went over there and did the business as everyone said he needed too.

Job done.

I can.

Percentage chance, in my opinion, against McD 60%, Fury 75%, Harrison 20-80% Chisora? Not seen much of him to comment.
sexton would beat mcdonut.fury.and harrison. still think chisora is better then him

Sexton would not beat McDermott - no chance, no chance, no chance.

No chance.

McDermott is a proven 12 round distance fighter and would have Sexton puffing out of his arse by round 8 and the fight would
be over by round 10. McDemott has fought the better opposition, more experience and just the wrong style for Sexton to handle.
McDermott is a fast handed, reasonably durable pressure fighter - look how he took away Tyson Furys jab and long range punching -
and for me Tyson Fury is a far better fighter than Sam Sexton.

I did actually think Rogan would have hammered Sexton the two occasions they met and fair play to Sexton - he made a lot of us eat
our words - but lets not build him up into something he is not. He is a decent stylist with average power who is still post novice himself.
In my opinion - the red 'L' is coming real soon. What he should be looking at is defending his title in Australia or New Zealand against someone like Shane Cameron or Kali Meehan and make some real money before someone back home really dusts him off for chump change.

You cant big up Mcdermot just to make Fury look better

mcdermot is a fat joke

he couldnt beat a badly faded williams ..even when he had him going ...24 rounds worth of god awful action

check out Mcdermot getiing thrown around like a rag doll by skelton and popov (popov subsequently moved down to cruiser because he was too weak for the Hw's)

also the slick cruiser Mark Krence out worked Mcdermot

all in all it makes Fury look c class at best

Sexton would stop mcdermot and fury inside 5 rounds

Since when has Sexton become a banger, both Fury and McDermott seem solid enough around the whiskers. I think anyone who can take Sexton into the championship rounds has a great chance of winning.

mcdermot can be knocked out no problem

and fury's only been tapped by mcdermot in a 7 fight career

what makes you think they have solid chins ?

Sexton is a proper hw

What on earth are you talking about.

You cant big up Mcdermot just to make Fury look better

Can you translate that into English?

Independently from anything to do with Fury, McDermott is the far better fighter, far more durable and far better stamina than Sexton.

Sexton is really a post novice - he hasn't got the mindset or the experience for 12 rounds. Has he been 12 rounds by the way? Every time he has done six he looks knackered. :shame:

He did beat Williams - he didn't get the decision - just like against Fury.

Skelton could come out of retirement and throw around Sexton like a rag doll.

Wasn't the Popov win down to McDermott breaking his ankle?

McDermott - despite his apperance - is a seasoned 12 round fighter - my cash would be on him to stop Sexton late. Sexton shouldn't inspire anybody with confidence about lasting 12 rounds at any kind of decent pace.

wow where to begin

firstly mcdermot ankle was not the reason....it was already obvious that popov was way too seasoned for him ..he broke his ankle getting ko'd

skelton was destroyed by Rogan (so how on earth you can say skelton would destroy Sexton)

as for sexton's stamina...i can guarantee both fury and mcdermot would not get passed round 1 of prizefighter ! let alone win it

Thats complete and utter conjecture, you have no idea how the fight would have panned out if McDermott hadn't broken his ankle - he was down from a shot but fighters have plenty of times come back to win from a knockdown - happens all the time. There is no proof that Popov would have KO'd McDermott.
skelton was destroyed by Rogan (so how on earth you can say skelton would destroy Sexton)

Because styles make fights - let think of one example out of many.

Thomas Hearns was beaten twice by Iran Barkley - based on that evidence - Iran Barkley should easily beat Roberto Duran because Duran got smashed by Hearns but guessed what happened - you know and I know what happened and it happens all the time...
as for sexton's stamina...i can guarantee both fury and mcdermot would not get passed round 1 of prizefighter ! let alone win it

Don't know what some of you are on about with Sexton, he destroyed Rogan last night a man that had already beat Skelton and Harrison a very impressive performance imo. He made mistakes in the 1st fight with Rogan but he has learnt from them what more do you want ?

I'm not a huge fan of Sexton but i don't understand all the criticism of him?
The validity of his previous win over Rogan was questioned, so he returned to Belfast for a rematch and won far more convincingly.
Good on him, i reckon.

I don't think anyone is not giving him credit for the win, he done very well in the lions den.
However I think people are questioning his longtitude at this level due to chin and stamina issues. He clearly has fine basic skills. Timing is obviously crucial in this sport..

Great job.

http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/nov ... eport.html

Main event only, I'm still waiting for the undercard to go up.

As for Sexton, I'm sure others will concur with this, that putting aside the confidence/arrogance (which to me comes across wholly unnatural) Sexton seems like a decent bloke. After being around his company for a bit over the last week and hearing him speak, I don't agree with some of the animosity coming his way.

Before and after the fight, there were plenty of Belfast people wishing him well and telling me they thought he would beat Rogan. After the fight as Rogan exited the ring, fans were heckling Sexton (quite viciously at times) and Rogan apparently (this is what I was told) shouted for them to drop it as Sexton had proved himself as a warrior.

Rogan is a very limited and ageing fighter, yet Sexton has twice failed to beat him conclusively in a fair fight - both of his victories over Rogan have come because of injuries. In both contests, Sexton was badly rocked, and the only other decent fighter he's faced - Chisora - knocked him out.

Best of luck to Sexton, and maybe he can go onto bigger and better things, but how can his supporters dress these wins over Rogan up to be something they're not ? They're inconclusive. I laughed my head off at how Sexton held on repeatedly against Rogan on Friday (right from the opening bell), yet when the fight had been called off, he stood up and roared, like he was Russell Crowe in Gladiator !

:box: Im a big Rogan fan and lets just say, not so much a fan of sexton :witzend: but i think fighting rogan has given sexton a major boost in experience IMO which gives him the edge over the rest of the Heavys and before a fury/sexton fight i think a Fury/Rogan bill would be win win for all!????

Sam Sexton deserves credit but is recieving very little because folk are stuck in the Marty Rogan Rocky dream and Sexton the boxer has now beat Rogan the brawler twice so credit to him :TU:

I don't get it. Okay I am from Norwich so have a Sexton bias, but come on, he took the rematch and beat him well.

Sexton seems like a genuine lad, willing to fight anyone (and anywhere for that matter) and is starting to really improve.

Give him his dues...

As for Rogie, I think everyone liked him for his Rocky-esque story, but ultimately he was never going to go that far. Sexton is the better boxer with the greater pedigree. Get over it.
