jim watt, why oh why oh why

why do they still let this doomsayer still commentate on fights? I find him very objectionable, bitter and never seems to give anyone credit

watt clearly didn't think the judges would give it to haye for doing slightly better work in more tha half the rounds. he thought haye would have to go and rip it away (which was physically impossible, as darkie pointed out).

Did he have to repeat that he thought Valuev was "getting frustrated" so many times?

I am not even sure that Valuev was.

I had it 8-4 to Haye but it could have gone to Valuev as Haye put an unconvincing performance together, nuthuggers want unobjective cheerleaders.

i agreed with jim in that it was dicey tactics from haye.

i could see how some had va;uev winning it.

i just thought haye was picking up pts with cleaner work.

put the stamp on it in the last 2. :box:

Thats my main gripe with him, is the repetition. He chooses his stance early on in the fight and continually repeats it and sticks to it even if events are changin in the ring.

fair score, IMO. i feel ppl will go totally OTT, with the most extreme possible response. perhaps haye asked for it with the ridicilous hype, followed by smart/cautious boxing.

it was obviously a great opportunity to establish haye after a very frustrating year. it clearly wasn't the best chance to showcase his abilities, but hey, i think it is good to see a fighter handle something that makes him out of sorts. so many fighters get "gimmes". haye may have got the worst heavyweight champ, but for a cruiser champ to beat a 7' heavy, without getting hurt/dropped, and staggering his man late, is an impressive fact IMO.

I wasnt impressed TBH Auto, Haye should have been throwing 15-20 power shots a round, the opportunities were there but he fought very scared and threw 3-5 power shots a round. Reckon he should have a bit of a run before taking on a Klit

Watt doesn't bother me much, I kind of channel him out but my mum gets really wound up by him, which winds me up because she spends so much time complaining about him through the fight.

Are there no moderators on duty?

I would have thought at least some of them would be around considering that there was a big fight on.

Jim Watt is my favourite British commentator by a mile, I don't find him negative as others seem to. I'd much rather listen to Watt than Rawlings ridiculous hometown bias any day.

I thought Ian Darke was appalling tonight and a lot worse than Jim Watt.

He was very disrespectful of Valuev saying things like "he has always been awful" et cetera. He should try to show a little more class.

Jim Watt prdicted before the fight that Valuev would win. he would rather be proved right than have a British boxer crowned HW Champ, that is why he was so negative and bitter with his commentary.

I don't think Watt was unfair to Haye. Watt's scorecard was a valid interpretation of the fight.

I had no issue with any part of Watt's commentary. He did his usual top drawer job IMO.

I like Watt.

His observations and commentary is much, much better and accurate than either Darke's or Rawling's.

At least Watt gives you a neutral view of the fight rather than just plumping for the British guy like the rest of the Sky hype machine
