he is obviously worried about taking a clean punch at heavyweight, even though valuev isn't a massive puncher in the division. either klitschko would be quick enough to cut the ring off and KO haye fairly quickly.

hopefully haye will be more humble in the build-up after last night's negative performance but i doubt it.
Difference is klitschko is 6'6 and fighting s man of 6ft. Haye fought a 7ft 2 23st fighter. Haye also broke his hand.

You've never boxed before, have you? If so, explain exactly what Haye was supposed to do differently? Steam in there and throw eight punch combinations? Put his head on Valuev's hairy chest and just wail away with his eyes shut? Come on, Mr. Atlas, I'd really like to know.

easy really, attack and throw punches. chagaev managed it without being so negative. haye announced himself as the saviour of the heavyweight division and has blasted everyone else for being boring but the fight last night was as poor to watch as the wlad v ibragimov debacle.

Exactly Haye threw 3-5 powerpunches a round if that, he was lucky to get the win, he could have fought the same tactic throwing more, Mayweather throws far more using the same tactic. Ordinarily 1 boring fight isnt a big deal but when you promise to bring excitement, call the Klitschkos boring, say your going to knock everyone out and fight a fight that makes Dirrell look like Mike Tyson it makes you a fraud who writes cheques you can't cash

good showcase for haye. like glenn kelly, way back in 'is day with yorkshire promoter, haye can perhaps hype it up with comparisons to his idol, roy jones. just a bit of harmless hype, obviousy.

never watch ruiz fight, but he is a good plodder and seems to have something left. haye should be able to land his best shots. he will have to deal with getting mauled, which could be a good learning experience.

the WBA title is good for haye right now. but it could become amillstone. you just know that valuev & any king heavyweight will get recycled. haye is not one to plateau, to get stuck at one level, as obviously his career has proven time nd time again from the thompson fight onward

Does Ruiz still do all that holding? He'll lose anyway to Haye but Haye's lack of inside fighting could make it tougher for him if Ruiz still does that jab an grab stuff.

ruiz was clean las night on undercard, but he will likely resort to holding in the tougher fights. he does have a new trainer, so maybe he is making changes to his game. i think he'll try to hold. no doubt haye's ppl will bring the holding up at the rules meeting. i'd pay £15 to see haye KO ruiz.

I'd have my money on David KO'ing Ruiz... Couldn't see any other result, even if Ruiz did resort to his holding/mauling.

yep, i see him stopping ruiz with the fast shots that many fighters cannot see coming. then we can all go utterly overboard on haye. because we are always either down down down, or up up up, on a fighter!

anyway, looks like haye has his schedule, ruiz, then avoid WBA/DKP cycle and cash in v vitali. fair enough. i do think a # of lucrative offers could come in, from fighters like povetkin (who i rate), chambers, dimitrenko, boytsov, solis, guys who haven't made as much of their talents as david haye.

i just hope that a tomasz adamek fight can be squeezed in. it cold be a sensational action fight. the pedigre is there, given both were REAL cruiser champs. haye is obviously in driver's seat with WBA title. size difference is negligible: an action fight where haye won't give away size/weight. a terrific chance for adamek. a great contrast of styles and types. does DK have a piece of haye? i understand he bought out main events, who took over adamek's career. bet it wouldn't be too hard to put the fight together. you never know how haye v klitschkos negotiations will go. all of a sudden vitali will come to london??? yeah right.

I am glad Haye has to fight Ruiz, I always wanted him to have had five or so fights at the weight before he fought Klitschko because to give him the best chance in that fight. The win last night told us what we all know that David Haye is a great boxer, but to mature into a Heavyweight capable of beating the Klitschkos he will be helped by gaining experiance in a few areas of his tecneaque. Being used to being held and leaned on by bigger stronger guys will be good experiance (step forward Ruiz) as wil training another time to fight at the weight and going rounds at the weight and taking punches from big guys.

As for this fight I think David Haye could be the first person to KO John Ruiz for 14 years within five rounds and as a result should be in a position to be taken pretty seriously as a HW and be pretty marketable (if he had't earned his shot at Vitali befor he would have after those two victories against a champion of sorts and a former champion who is difficult to fight).

I think ideally I would like him to fight Ruiz and then another, someone ideally with a strong jab and good reach (perhaps wlad) but it seems there is a inevitability about vitali... All I know is it will be fun to watch.

Haye vs Ruiz - Surely it doesn't happen

That ain't the next step on this journey, no way. He vacates to "pursue the brothers" whilst Ruiz & Valuev rematch.

ruiz was paid to step aside with the winner fighting him. it is going to happen but it would be a nice first defense for haye

I think it's a nice fight to bank some cash, before he moves on to the bigger risk that the K's will pose.

I also think he will spark Ruiz pretty sharpish.

After the boring showing against Valuev Haye will have an opportunity to look spectacular against a guy who really shouldn't be fighting for a title. Ruiz may prove a nuisance for a while, but I envision Haye looking spectacular at some point and that is much needed after his lackluster showing that failed bring excitment to the division. I think it is a good first defense for him, then on to bigger things.

it has to happen or haye will get stripped, without the belt he has no bargaining power against the K2 brothers etc.

haye is not RJJ, he is not a marquee fighter, he does not have the marketability (yet?) to command huge purses without the strap.

Oh I reckon he can. The WBA belt won't define those fights.

It should happen and I think it's about 80% certain it will which is about as good as it gets months and months away.

John Ruiz, the scourge of boxing, the wrestler, the spoiler, the annoying gnat that just will not go away. Haye has no realistic options except getting this fight out of the way, but if Haye manages to spark Ruiz then a lot of boxing fans on both side of the pond will be very pleased. There will be murmours of "Who the hell is Ruiz....Ruiz is past it.....Ruiz got sparked by Tua anyway....etc etc" but inside, they will be pleased this annoying man is out of the title picture at last.

Exactly
The same reason anyone ever does anything in boxing, money.

Haye has a broken hand and will not be ready to fight until May. So that fight happens, and he fights a Klitschko when exactly? December?

I still think Booth will not want to hang about risking the big pot. Who has ever benefited from fighting John Ruiz?

Haye vs Klitschko, in June at Wembley. You heard it wildly speculated about here first... ;;-)
