His obvious talent made it easy to forget that he is a young novice pro.

As long as he carries on developing and learning, then big things should be within his grasp for sure..

I'm starting to like this kid more and more. He would beat the likes of Bellew, Degale, Jefferies and anyother good prospect in and around the Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight division,IMO.

Bellew and Jefferies would really test the chin of Groves .. so maybe too soon for those two. But would fancy him now against DeGale.

Groves does leave himself open and gets tagged abit, but there's plenty of time for his team to work on that.

I really like Groves but obviously the amateur stoppage makes you think about his punch resistance but I know nothing about the Dickinson stoppage.

Did anyone actually see the fight or know what happened and did he have any other problems, hoping not as the boy could be very very good if his chin is sound.

Here's a link to an interview posted by dsimpson, (who I believe conducted the interview), where George discusses his losses to Dickinson.
http://grovesvdegale.wordpress.com/2009 ... /#more-237

For what it's worth, I don't believe there is anything wrong with his chin; he's sparred with Froch, Rhodes, Fragomeni, Spada amongst others, and whilst he's acquitted himself well, (he handled Frago & Spada imo), he's taken enough clean blows to suggest his chin is fine.
Of course this in itself isn't conclusive proof of a granite chin; just as being stopped on a two count rule in the ams at the age of '16 or 17' isn't irrefutable proof of questionable punch resistance.

I'd also like to add that I think that of all the novice pros in Britain, I think Groves will go the furthest. Early days I know, but I think he could be real special.

It was a first round stopage, then Dickinson beat him on points in the rematch. Doesn't mean his chin is weak of course, as Hatton was iced in a round as an amateur too.

Looks like he could be a real star does Groves. Suddenly the Hayemaker camp is riding hide.
