It would be stupid to do that fight at American time.

Ruiz is not a draw whatsoever.

i estimated 750,000 buys. well done david!!! he sold the fight perfectly. haye vs ruiz shouldn't be ppv.it is a mis match haye will destroy him. unless there is a fantastic undercard then i wont be buying it. live stream on justin tv for me

Well I'm really surprised - great work by team Haye - that's tremendous figures.

I'm a little surprised at how quickly they've been released, normally takes a while for them to come out.

That's good news for Haye, but I think Valuev can take plenty of credit for the numbers in this one. That's not ment as a criticism of Haye, just don't think he has reached the sort of level where he'll be doing 500k + regardless of opponent. Could've been different if he'd have KO'd Valuev, but the fight itself was not a classic. I can't see a high percentage of repeat purchases for Haye Vs Ruiz, if that is indeed his next opponent, which looks likley.

He won't be getting that much. Sky will get some, Don King will get some, and Valuev and the Saeurlands will get some too.

Also I'm not sure if this is still true, but a company called In-demand used to take a share of PPVs also - I think their operation is global.

not sure about that mate as its british tv rights

similar to hatton who got a massive portion of the money in the uk vs mayweather

the british buyers were buying the fight to see haye , not valuev , king etc , they make their own money from site fee , promotions in germany , russia.

haye wouldnt get a penny of that

edit.... the £11-12m is a total amount in ppv monies , haye would get a % of it not all £11-12m

According to the Guardian today, Haye is rumoured to have collected £5 for every PPV sale.

That sounds about right mate.
David's deal I believe for the Klitchko fight with Setanta was similar before everything went tits up.
Wonder what his actual purse was ?
Wouldn't be surprised if he's taken the short end and gambled on the PPV to get the fight on.

haye-ruiz should be PPV. he should milk it and perhaps not jump into the vitali fight, if the figures for future title defenses are good. a brit with a heavyweight title. christ, if it was OK to put khan (prospect) vs prescott (prospect), lightweights, on PPV, then blimey, britain's post lewis heavyweight champ will be PPV fighter almost certainly.

i think they could create a good rivalry with adamek, who brings some pedigree, some excitement, and has just stopped a heavyweight (golota), looking fast and purposeful.

Do you have no shame coming on here haha trying to make the rest of us sound like we didn't know what we're talking about.

Always base any PPV figure estimation on the Hype and anticipation generated by the level of media coverage it gets beforehand which in effect dictates people buying habits. It did what i expected between 750,000 and 1 million although like as been mentioned he may have blown his chance of becoming a British sporting Superstar by not delivering that all important 'Knock out/knock down' of the 'Giant' photo opportunity that would have been in all the worlds media.

If the Haye team were smart they'd make Haye vs Ruiz on regular Sky sports or even try to get it on the BBC where his career started and wait for a fight with one of the Klitschko brothers for PPV again, he can overcome one bad fight on PPV but having two in a row would really damage his PPV attraction and the Ruiz fight could easily be a borefest of hugging and mauling for 12 rds.

Well, wwhat can I say, I eat my words. I never thought it would do anything like these numbers - just shows what a bit of hoopla can do. I think it was helped by the sheer size and freakshow quality of valuev, but never expected it do do this well.

Ruiz will be a much harder sell, and may well be an ugly fight again - bit of a poisoned chalice for our boy that fight.

It may be but I think Haye can get the highlight reel knock out and as long as he does that then people will be happy.

Lets put this to sleep.

It wont be a boring fight. Ruiz comes to fight and is very open about the clinch-fest style he slipped into. Although a chasm lower, his fight saturday further highlighted his desire to punch not hold, he was also lighter and in good nick for such a mundane fight after 12 months out.

Haye v Ruiz will be entertaining.

However, I agree, it will be HARDER for Haye to sell.

But he'll find a way.

The fact that it wasn't on in the middle of the night obviously boosted the sales, if Ruiz does go PPV, which it's bound to, then a friendly time and full o2 will mean another very tidy payday. And I think he can knock Ruiz out, he's 36 and has fought other dinasours who have been all too willing to grapple with him, Haye's punch output will be significantly higher.

Can't wait for Frankie's Sun column next week, I'm sure he can't wait to extend his congratulations to our new beltholder...
