lennox lewis produced a masterclass of footwork and movement to keep out of david tuas way when they met for the world title, everyone was worried about tuas left hook but lewis played the matador and frustrated the kiwi when they met. lewis received great accolade for that performance.

should we not be offering the same sort of worship to haye, who was the smaller man and was actually the underdog come the first bell .

are we all guilty of double standards.

Lewis would Ko Haye within 30 seconds. No comparison. Tua would take hayes head off with a left hook.

no, im on about the similarities of the fights, not the fact that lewis or tua would rip hayes head off, i agree with you on those fronts.

im on about the way haye coped with valuev compared to how lewis coped with tua...

I will give Haye his due's for a disciplined fight, and his best effort especially with one hand.

However, completely disagree with the similarity.

Lewis BOXED Tua's brains off, made him look silly, nullified every attack (usually with PUNCHES), and eventually became the boss in the ring.

Haye didn't land enough punches to warrant the same kind of adulation. One fight WAS a shut out, the other fight was very close with many people saying NONE deserved to win.

In terms of achievement - then there is a comparison. Haye was the "away" fighter (you cannot say Lewis was), Haye wasn't actually the underdog but it was close with the betting, Lewis was betting favourite. Lewis had most of the physically advantages - Haye didn't.

So in terms of achievment and recognition this will get more. In terms of performance, no comparison. One was a masterclass.

i dont agree with you stu, i seem to remember lewis on the back foot and tua lungeing in with huge innacurate hooks that lewis avoided, ran away then picked tua off occasionally. hardly a masterclass, lewis fought scared as his chin had already been exposed bu mccall.
