He did as much as Hatton when he earned his shot at Mayweather up at 147.
He did as much as Mayweather when he earned his shot at Gatti back at 140 etc etc

What fighters did in a lower weight division always counts at their new weight, until the new division they move into is Heavyweight for some strange reason.

Haye was undisputed cruiserweight champ. That alone should be enough to land him a shot at Heavyweight, especially in todays division where the majority of challengers are mediocre at best.

Question I want answering: Why do some people get so obsessed with fat, squat heavyweights who can punch hard and throw lots of hooks, despite the fact that they're so bad at boxing that they can't land any of these supposed blockbusters?

Is that part of the myth, though? The fact they hardly ever land clean gives the punches a mythos as people's imaginations are far more vivid and excitable than reality?

I mean, Tua, even at his peak, was befuddled by anyone with a jab that could move laterally. People forget that even Rahman did him easily a couple of times (despite what the stupid judges might have said). And really: how good was Rahman in the grand scheme of things? A gatekeeper for a dreadful division who got lucky once. Ditto against Chris Byrd, who I'm sure people were saying was ripe for being blasted out, being a small heavyweight.

And Peter, for all the hype, was cr@p a long, long time before people realized.

I think this all derives from the unhealthy obsession of some with Tyson. A short heavyweight need only score one knockout and half the media and boxing fans have hard ons for the next Tyson.

Grow up the lot of ya!

Tua and his silly fans can talk about getting a shot at any champion they want when he's fought someone in the top million somewhere that isn't some God-Awful boxing backwoods tank town.

Haye to jab, move and box Tua's ears off in much the way Lennox Lewis did. Tua's only great if you stand in front of him early on.

And remember how Tua struggled against Hasim Rahman and even got knocked down at the end of the fight? Tua's not the unstoppable express train he was.

Tua wasn't good enough in his pomp and he is not good enough now. Haye would win on points and it would be painful to watch.

the 2 cruiser/heavies haye and adamek would be far too fast and good for that plodder.

it would be a good event if it ever did happen and would encourage the lewis comparisons, for a nice bit of hype.

What is it with this forum and Tua?

Countless threads on Tua vs ??? - And how he could win by KO etc.

Tua, in his prime, was one thing and even then he was slapped about and soundly beaten by Bryd and Lewis.

Tua, today, is not going to knockout Haye, let alone get anywhere near a title shot. ? I remember Danny Wofford jabbing his head off and that was when he was relatively close to his prime. It would be a mismatch beatdown.

Ok, so Tua can still punch and has a good chin, but his sloth-like reflexes, porous defence, slow feet - Its not going to get him anywhere, at this stage of his career.

Now, as I have said before, I like Tua, nice guy, has a decent punch and chin but he is nowhere on the radar.

I can only assume, because of the heavyweight division, the way it is, people are still yearning for excitment of yesteryear ala Tyson.

Haye would outslick him and bang him up pretty hard.

Have people been following Tua lately? There's good reason behind his choice of opponent for the past 6 years, he's shot to pieces.

He isn't 'rebuilding' for another shot at glory, he's paying the bills and if he decides he wants a shot at one of the top boys, it'll be to cash out.

His resistance isn't what it was, his speed's gone and at this stage I'd fancy quite a few fighters who're several levels beneath Haye to beat him and possibly stop him.

Sh*t, I'd pick Ruiz to beat him if they fought now.
