Lennox Lewis' Toughest Title Fight?
Lennox Lewis' Toughest Title Fight?
I believe Zeljko Mavrovic gave Lewis' his toughest title defence.
He threw everything at this guy, but; he just kept coming. Lewis was completely shattered at the end.
What do you think?
Vote in the poll.
Then, explain why you feel your selection was his toughest opponent. I have excluded his easy wins against Jackson, Akinwande, Golota, Grant, and Botha. Because the poll limits me to 10 selections.

I concur. The Zev was an underestimated opponent. Shame a muscular disease robbed him of a career too soon.

Never knew about that muscle disease, I thought he retired because of his wife wanting him to change his way of life.
Shocking, he was a real hardman.

I mean, doesn't Rahman automatically win this as he knocked Lewis out?
Besides him I say Evander, and many including myself had him edging Lennox in their rematch. Mavoric was game but clearly did not win the fight.

Bruno gave Lewis arguably one of his toughest fights.

People may say Vitali but, Vitali didn't last the distance. Not sure how he would've done in the later rounds.

I was going to make the same point. Taking the question just as it's worded, Rahman is the default victor.dempseyfire wrote:I mean, doesn't Rahman automatically win this as he knocked Lewis out?

However, among his successes, I would nominate the rematch with Holyfield. I had Lewis, unlike you, narrowly winning that fight, but it was tight. Lewis looked lacklustre at times.

where's golota at?
being of croatian descent, i was pulling hard for mavrovic. he gave a good account of himself that night. i'll say his toughest fight was vs vitali. lennox was out of shape but he still found a way to beat a good heavyweight that night.

Where is Ray Mercer? I wonder how Tyson got up there but Mercer didn't? Morrison did a better job against Lewis than Tyson.

The Mercer fight wasn't for a titleIKSRTFO wrote:Where is Ray Mercer? I wonder how Tyson got up there but Mercer didn't? Morrison did a better job against Lewis than Tyson.

Mercer wasn't a title fight.
Skipping the two times he was knocked out it has to be either the Holyfield rematch or Bruno. Frank was absolutely dominating Lewis until he landed a hail mary left hook. Evander could have got the nod, I thought it was a draw and the judges made up for the highway robbery in the first fight.

I'd of voted Mercer, but I'll got for Holyfield II. Unlike Mavrovic - who clearly is a very hard man - Holyfield was hurting Lewis in their rematch. I thought the Real Deal won but alas the media uproar over the previous fight wouldn't allow him to be given a close fight with Lewis.
