Shaw aiming to make Froch v Dirrell rematch. .December !

Post by whiskey »

"I'm looking to try to get it done for December." said Shaw "I'm talking to Showtime about it, and I have a meeting with them this week."

What a load of cobblers this loathsome lizard comes out with.

For a start Froch is currently on two weeks holiday at his brothers wedding in Cuba.

Exactly - surely Dirrell should be concentrating on the dangerous fight with Arthur Abraham next.

Injuries could wreck either man's forthcoming fights and/or leave then not enough time to rest before another camp.

direll fvcking up super 6, and so now is shaw. don't let them ruin it, showtime. here is one great worry. that the promoters and the sanctioning bodies would find a way to faff everything up. if these guys can't make this show work, then boxing will be a laughing stock.

super 6 is more important than a piddling litle rematch between froch and that dire southpaw hugger who will finish his career answering the boxingtalk mailbag.

eff off shaw, try not to eff up something that could be really big (the tourney). showtime are running this, not you. this is not the andre dirrell show -this became apparent a few weeks ago.

hopefully showtime have got these nobs locked down tight in legal terms, so no one can go off trying to do what they want.

They should both focus on the rest of the Super 6 before negoiting a rematch imo If Froch goes on to win it and Dirrell doesnt win a fight then a rematch wouldnt make much sense

doing a fight again, that would upset the whole balance of the tourney. it would be insane to do so, and unfair to the other fighters. it would be unfair to all fans as well, as it was piss poor farce of a fight. debatable decisions happen in boxing. super 6 offers well matched fights. so there was always a chance of there being close decisions that could go either way. gary shaw should have known this.

Whilst I wouldn't like to see the fight untill after the Super 6, it seems people are not confident Froch would win next time.

When're the Abraham and Kessler fights scheduled for?

This is not how a tourney works, if you lose you don't get to 'keep on trying 'til you get it right'.

The only way a rematch should be happening is if it was on the cards in the tourney's original roadmap or came about by resulting progression.

Shaw and Dirrell need to tread very carefully here.

Makes Mr Froch's promoter look like David Haye in physical comparison. As for the clothes ......

They should be concentrating on the Super6.

But it is quite funny how some dismiss Dirrel as a `Hugger` etc .. yet applaud Haye who did an even worse exhibition only recently

oh, indeed mate, the irony was not lost on me either

(cue 'certain Froch fans' bending over backwards to explain how it's differentthe way Haye did it)

notice also Tonyevs- you know that nice little old wives tale, 'you have to take the fight to the champion to take the belt', implying somehow any fighter who challenges for a title and doesn't force the fight somehow naturally deserves to lose- notice that cliche was also conspicuous in its absence?

No point in the rematch as Froch will lose to title to Kessler.

I was stunned to read Graham Houston's article post the Haye fight. Everything was correct about it, then came his bit of why he the fight differed and why he scored them to Froch and Haye respectively.

Apparently, Froch LOOKED like he would be more capable of launching attacks than Valuev and Haye looked in more control than Dirrell, who didn't look look comfortable. Since when have "looks" come into it. Ring Generalship yes, but looking like you would be more capable!!! its taking ring generalship to the extreme.

I enjoyed the Froch vs Dirrell fight (mad I know, but I admired the defensive work, footwork and clean shots of Dirrell) - I much prefered it to the Haye fight. If it doesn't affect Super 6 scheduling then why not. The rematch wouldn't be part of the Super 6 rules, so all wouldn't be lost for Froch should he lose. He would still be ahead of Dirrell in the table.

agreed on several points stu :TU:

i also, for one thing, actually enjoyed a lot of Dirrell's work. his houdiniesque escapes from the ropes bordered on improvisatory athletic genius, IMO (i know i know you have to land punches to win, just saying i enjoyed watching him spinning away and leaving Froch staring out at row J)

on 'looking like' it reminds me of a story when i was playing football. we had a new guy come in for a trial. afterwards the manager got us together and asked what we thought of him.

one fella pipes up 'yeah, well, he's got a fair bit going for him, he's big, black, he's fast...'

someone interrupted 'he isn't fast'

to which the bloke says 'yeah, well, he looks like he might be...'

apparently according to some, Dirrell lost points for pulling funny faces and complaining to the ref

I suppose if Taylor drops out, they could give close losers a second chance in place of the Taylor match.

Froch/Dirrell despite the disputed result wasn't exactly a fight that made me go "Some more of that please!" however.

I cant see it comming off. Froch needs to move on and concentrate on Kessler. I dont have any doubts Kessler will beat Froch but Froch needs to be 100% to stand any chance. I have said I think the fighters with the best chance of winning the tournament are Kessler and Abraham but Ward cannot be discounted and could cause an upset. Froch I dont feel will figure in the finals.

If Dirrell and Shaw want a rematch then they better win the remaining fights preferably by KO (which isn't really realistic) and hope Froch wins all the rest of his.

This format is bringing some good fighters together but why didn't they just add 2 more fighters, one of which being Pavlik, and just have it as an 8 man knockout tournament? Seems a bit silly to me.

They'd argue that styles make fights and a straight knock out tournament wouldn't indicate who was the best overall cause you could lose to one guy who was just the wrong style for you and not get a second crack at proving yourself.

With this format you have to fight everybody so there will be no doubts who is the best of the 6 by the end.
