Makes sense for Haye - Ruiz is at least a former world champion. A chance for a hometown fight which will build his profile further.

Like I said though, needs to look spectacular, another dull fight won't help his PPV status.

also for haye and booth the Promoters, they need to promote a big bill. one involving haye, for a heavyweight title, is a bigger bill than anything else in britain, surely. it's not a global superfight, but it'll do very nicely in the context of britain's boxing industry.

If team Haye have the resources at their disposal they will promote it themseves. If they don't, then being a mandatory - it would go to purse bids.

I think that Haye and Booth will have the wherewithall to put together a fight in London.

Only think is, I'm not sure about the 02 as a boxing venue - is it too much of a pain to get to, or was it just that the Barrett fight wasn't all that appealing?

can't see haye going with any of the big promoters, risking signing his career away, risking relinquishing control, risking the lawsuits when you want to break free. just look at the trouble hatton and calzaghe had leaving warren, the aggro that the K2s, jc gomez and dzinziruk are having jilting universum, and all the troubles DKP fighters have had...with haye being promoter as well, can't see him going with king. GBP CEO schaeffer was at the valuev fight, and he would be haye's easiest route onto HBO for the massive paydays, i reckon, when it is time. dk has a piece of ruiz. is there any more to it than just that?

Yeah without public transport, the greenwich peninsula might as well be deepest patagonia, it's miles from anywhere. I walked back for ages from there once because there were no buses coming - in the end had to get a bloody expensive cab home.

Imagine the bedlam with 15,000 people coming out and no tubes!

I like this fight for the same reasons as others. Chance for a homecoming & spectacular KO. I hope they see this as the gimme it really is and great PR opportunity. It might mean taking lower money as a trade off for the publicity but they should try and get it on a terrestrial channel. Then once Ruiz is out of the way they can write their own Sky PPV cheque and cash out against a Klitchsko.

I think this will be a barn-storming fight.

Ruiz is much maligned, but he's never ducked a challenge. I spoke to him last week and he's as good as gold in conversation as they say nearer the Thames.

If Haye has any sense he will take a couple of gimme's and make a few easy million. He deserves it after doing everything the hard way. However I think if he has his own way(which may be difficult politically) he will chase the big fights and the glory rather than pieces of silver.

The fight will be on box office has is ppv now, there no point fighting on normal tv for lower money. If he were to lose that would be a big blow financially!

I think Haye can look good in this fight, he won't be there to clutch and hug for Ruiz like say Rahman and Valuev were, and I would imagine Haye will wind Ruiz up so much before the fight about his holding that Ruiz will actually come out and fight.

Obviously, the Middleweight with the same name as John Ruiz is John Ruiz, isn't it? It's only logical.

Meantime, as David said in the article, Ruiz is capable, and if Haye gets into bombs away mode, or feels under too much pressure to look impressive, it could be an interesting night.
