New Year's Eve quiz

Post by dondada »

I had a spare hour (well, the missus was watching the soaps) so thought I'd have a trawl and set a little quiz for my Boxrec chums. All the following questions relate to fights on New Year's Eve (NYE). I can't pretend they're easy...feel free to have a trawl yourselves...you'll need to! :TU:

1. Which all-time lightweight great suffered the first knockdown of his career one NYE...and then lost a majority decision on the same night two years later?

2. Which very early lightweight king had a bout on NYE a month before the defence of his title?

3. Which Thai legend had his second pro fight on NYE?

4. Which Witherspoon and Tua victim successfully defended his national title on NYE?

5. Which recent WBA light-welterweight champ won his first pro title of any kind on NYE?

6. Which very early lightweight great wound down for the year with a nice 20-round draw one NYE?

7. Which former British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight champ fought twice on (different) NYE?

8. Which infamously durable former middleweight king was stopped after seven rounds up at light-heavy one NYE?

All the best to everyone in 2005!

Im lost on #6, I cant find any lightweight greats with a 20 round draw on NYE. I can find Battling Nelson, but he won his fight in 1911
