New Year Honours List

Post by Old bones Ian »

There are no boxers, or anyone connected to boxing who have got an Honour in the new years list.

Shame really, it would be nice if some of the guys who run the amatuer clubs would get some sort of reconigtion.

True some of the trainers and guys behind the scenes deserve recognition. I thought for a minute I was going to read Hatton & Calzaghe knighted for services to british boxing! He he.

what I find disgusting is that lennox isn't to be knighted, one of britain's most successful ever sportsmen, and nothing.

they better recognise him in the end, because otherwise henry fricken cooper will have been a sir and lennox not. where the hell is the justice in that.

Didn`t Amir Khans trainer get some sort of honour recently.

Besides the honours list is meaningless, you win some sporting event, that as far as I know doesn`t save lives or help the lives of others and they give you some knighthood or make you a Dame.

Yet you can spend your whole working life for a relatively low wage in any of the NHS hospitals doing a truly special job that makes a difference and receive little or no thanks at the end of it.

How much are these sports people earning? A lot more than even your average GP I’d guess and yet who saves lives on a daily basis?

True, Kelly Holmes was made a Dame and Pinsent knighted. Lennox should definitely get knighted I wonder if him growing up in Canada has anything to do with it...

I think that it may have more to do with the media and general public at times having a short memory.

Lennox has not been in the media spotlight over the last 12 months like Holmes and Pinsent.

Spot on, its just a popularity poll.
Didn`t Mike Catt recieve some gong a few years back when he kicked a goal for England.
And Johnny Wilkinson recieved the same for the same reason a few years later.
Just laughable..

Yes, and wasn't the press also hailing Wilkinson as the greatest Englishman that had ever lived, a hero to all true thinking men, the greatest man alive etc etc

Yuk.
