Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
everyone has to make a living.
Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
Colin russell, its all very well bringing someone over but all that would be doing right now is having a holiday given no one is willing to fight him. You seem to have no idea mate, its never been about the money Haumono turned it down and it was nothing to do about money Hoppa turned Chauncy down to fight on the Tua/Cameron undercard thinking Wilson was the easier fight that was never about the money, LEapai turned Chauncy down to fight on another Cameron undercard and fought Liava'a instead once again money wasnt an issue for us! Im not saying chauncy is a mega star in australia and that he shoudl recieve Roy Jones treatment and the red carpet should be rolled out for him. Would you go to work for a week for free? in the hope that maybe just maybe one day someone will offer you a little better pay for a slightly bigger fight? Chauncy has done his time fighting for free to get to where he is now i dont agree that he should fight for free just to get into the martket, kiwi boxers fly over all the time and fight for the basic going rate which is all we are asking. But the reason they go over is because they are cannon fodder, how many TOP guys from NZ are being given the call to fight in NZ? What im saying is NO Australian pro i know of would come to NZ and fight for free. Yes aussie is the bigger market but end of the day the "top" aussie heavyweights Solo, Leapai, Hoppa, Wilson, Kirby etc continue to bypass the test that sits in there own backyard! Chauncy is one of the easiest guys to promote given his personality a fight against one of the top aussies could easily be promoted.
Australian boxing has always been about looking after there own ass, look at Mundine.............i mean i can count the blokes from there who have actually wanted to truly test themsleves on one hand! Everyone else is a pad job

Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
I wouldn't say no-one will fight him. I think it's more a case that no-one Chauncy wants to fight will fight him.N2 Shape wrote:Colin russell, its all very well bringing someone over but all that would be doing right now is having a holiday given no one is willing to fight him. Didn't Noel Thornberry call you a flat out liar N2 Shape for saying that Leapai pulled out of a fight, to which you have never responed? In fact i think you waited a week or two before posting again at Boxrec.
Didn't Kirby call Chauncy a liar about pulling out of a fight? Of course Chauncy retaliated with lets set up a fight when you have a Corn flakes title, but he never really revisted the fact that Kirby pulled out of a fight.
I don't know mate, seems a bit tounge in cheek to me.
I don't think you should be calling out Australians for padded records mate, your boy has 50 fights and only 1 known fighter on his resume.
Name me a fighter in NZ that has a winning record that hasn't got a padded record and don't name Tua because he's Somoan and a Proud Somoan.
Mate have you got no contacts in the fight game?
Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
Dont recall Noel saying that, but you could find the post and show me if you like. LEapai never pulled out of the fight he just never accepted it!
Once again Kirby never pulled out of a fight just didnt accept one.
Listen mate, Tua is a Samoan but he also calls New Zealand home and is just as proud to be kiwi as Samon. What your effectively saying is you cannot call the following guys Australian either
Solomon Haumono - Tongan
Kali Meehan - Kiwi
Nathan Briggs - Kiwi
Alex Leapai - Samoan
John Hopoate - Tongan
Pieter Cronje - South African
Dominic Vea - Tongan
Lawrence Tauasa - Samoan
Nader Hamdan - Lebo
Adam Forsyth - Kiwi
Sakio Bika - Cameroon
Kariz Kariuki - Kenya (via NZ)
Tyrone Tongia - Papua New Guinea
Sonni Michael Angelo - Congo
Junior Talipeau - Samoan
Pradeep Singh - India
King Davidson - Nigeria
Oyewale Omotoso - Nigeria
Lovemore N'Dou - South Africa
Samuel Colomban - Cameroon
Solomon Egberime - Nigeria
Fatai Onikeke - Nigeria
Not to mention the likes of Kostya Tsyzu and the likes! So in effect all the guys with some talent aint Aussie
And mate just before you start getting a little carried away this boxrec forum is used for discussion, im not using it as a place to try find fights and hope that every matchmaker/promoter in the world will call me from here. IT may sound that way but once again simply using it to create discussion which it has done effectively to date. People are talking wether its positive or negative its all good i appreciate everyones opinions but some take it a little to seriously!

Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
So have you let the promoter of the Dec 4 show know that you have a HW ready to go if anyone pulls out?
Just wondering what you are actually doing to get Chauncy on a televised show in Oz other than telling us who doesn't want to fight him.
FFS just get him on a televised card here against a chump and let the public get to know him. Aussie love fat dorky white guys who can fight. They are in short supply here.

He has a fight December 5th, and we dont get into the business of double booking!
And hell why not we'l just throw him on a mainevents card next week shall we its that simple
All in time a little promotion (aka this forum) doesnt hur thowever in the mean time!

Mate second page half way down Popeye 1 calls you a liar but you never responded, in fact you avoided it.
Meehan is Fijian FFS when will you learn how to research Data.
How do you classify a nationality, because the Briggs boys don't claim they from NZ, so if they're born in a country where there parents may have had work for a year or two then return to their homeland of thier parents and live the rest of there lives in that country do they still have to claim the country they were born in or the country that runs through their blood line?
Now N2 shape you didn't answer my question, show me a fighter from NZ with a winning record that isn't padded, you've attacked my country now i want to see you eat your words.
Mate we try our best not to claim Kiwis, but if they don't want to represent Kiwi, that's not our fault, that's obviously a NZ problem, but i'm sure there are plenty of Somoans/Tongans that you guys can Claim in your national sporting/boxing teams.
I see the All somoans i mean blacks are looking on track for 3rd or 4th place again at the next world cup.

So your saying our four highest ranked fighters are shitt then?
You have always worried me about your judgement on who's a good fighter.
Mundine
Katsidis
Green
Geale
No one is getting carried away it's just a simple observation that you don't know anyone, shitt mate you had to go to the states to find washed up or never were fighters to come to NZ because you as a smart man know the crap fighters there are in NZ.
I would bet my house on the fact that you probably promised the big fights here in Australia as well to the US boys.
Mate 57 odd topics that you've started and you keep getting the same response's from everyone on these boards that you should get your boys to Australian shores instead of making shit up about fighters not wanting to fight your boys, here's the funny thing you get upset and start having a go at people because they're sick of hearing you constantly repeating yourself........Do something about it or shut up

Houndawg,
cleary a nerve has been struck mate which was the point in my posts
its good to see your passionate as well, because so am i. Im not having ago at Australian boxing standards they are well ahead of the kiwis in the regards. The nationality thing could be argued all day and all night but when some idoit says we cant claim Tua as our own they simply forget Australia has just as many mulitnationals as NZ that was the point i was making. I was making sarcastic post regarding the nationality issue which is always dangerous to do on a forum of course given one cant tell if the other is being sarcastic.
Now not sure what your saying when you say " i dont know anyone"? I know all the NZ based boxers do i manage them all? NO. Do i promote them all NO. Do i know them all, well actually NO only 90%
DD in regards ot the americans they contacted me Jameson Bostic is a fine example. He wanted to get his career started again after a 13 month layoff 5 fights in 2009 later ive helped him do that...........and bigger things will follow in 2010. Now im willing to hold you to your house bet mate i never promised them anything in OZ they can speak for themsleves but they wil give you the same answer. I only promise what i can control and thats the NZ side of things, and the proof is in the pudding there. And for the record i dont get upset mate..............sorry to say!
In regards to Noels post I never saw it but im not avoiding it, Cameron undercard in Christchurch 2008 promoter told us Leapai turned down a fight with Welliver to fight Liava'a instead!

Daniel McKinnon 14-4-1
so just let me know when i should start eating my words? Just ran a few off the top of my head, remember it was to name any KIWIS with winning records that were not padded.................if you claim any of the above guys were padded then you really know less than i already think you do!

Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
No I played for city with Alex in the City vs Country rep game, he was a Front rower i was a back rower. I had to face up to the Massive boys/men a couple of times year myself. I played for Easts and Souths. Problem was playing against each other for so many years and in rep teams you get to know each other and theres no element of surprise and when big blokes like Alex who use to hit like a mack truck started calling your name out when it's your ruck it's a F@cking rush. Tuquiri was in this team as well in the under 14s through to sixteens before getting picked up by the Broncs. For some reason though there team never made the final they always fell short.dan h wrote:Hounddawg wrote:N2 Shape wrote:Dont recall Noel saying that, but you could find the post and show me if you like. Well i guess i know nothing, but i got a chuckle so at least i see the humor in this.......fornicate i would of went quite if that was the list i had to rattle of. The last 3 i can't even comprehend.
Shane Cameron..... what ever........ Glassjaw Mcgraw more like it. Everyone he's fought is a bum, and he took on Tua thinking that he was finished.....umm he was wrong
Sean Sullivan........Can i change the rules to blokes that have been in with good fighters and won, not pad there records and lose everytime he got a shot ...umm that was at least 20 something times...... and he's retired.
Tasefa Toakipa This just go's to show that you don't even know what a padded record is
Tom Heeney This blokes not alive, I had never heard of him I'm sorry........ Looked like a blood and guts fighter but again failed to land the big opportunitys, probably your best pick, but still it go's to show that you couldn't find an active fighter and follow the rules.
I think You get the message you got nothing, so why all your noise about my country's fighters, look past the sheep and take a look in your own backyard.
Shhhhhh
Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
I appreciate the fact that you can comprehend that you were wrong it's a good start. Now i have generally agreed with yourself on getting your boys a start, but what was said, is.. what it is. Yes I'm very passionate about my country and some of the boxers that fight here, don't really care for the ones who pad their records but you didn't really name names you just said Australia.N2 Shape wrote:Houndawg,

Re: Welliver defends NZ Title and Wins WBO Asia-Pacific!!!
Houndawg,
There was no "rule" stipulating active fighters mate so ssshhhh.
All i was saying was sometimes these posts can be taken the wrong way or interpreted the wrong way given they are in text and one cannot fully comprehend sarcasim etc etc i a text based forum. Make sense? Sh!t i think i almost confused myself!
Adding Kipa was a bit of a joke good to see you picked him out though!
As for Sullivan he is a legend mate, and he did have a nice won over Jeff Malcolm.
And thats being a little unfair on Shane given the likes of Solo, Leapai, Hoppa (Except MCCall LKO2) Kirby etc havent fought anywhere near his level!
But the Aussies have had some great boxers mate i do agree. New Zealand could produce some top fighters also but they allend on the meat wagon to OZ before they propery develop unfortunatelty. But hey its up to us to change that.
And you have never heatd of Teom Heeney??? come on mate!!! Hes a true legend :-) give me your postal adress and i'll happily send you his book its a good read!
I'll be at trhe Gren VS RJJ fight where you boys meeting i'll happily meet you there, as i said boxrec is all a bit of fun and some serious debate mixed in certainly makes for an interesting lazy sunday my fav time to post

If a British poster had admitted that on the British forums he would have been laughed out of there.
As for Heeney not getting the big opportunity's (sic) he fought for the world heavyweight title! Name me a bigger opportunity out there? A shot at the Queensland heavyweight title at the Logan RSL?

And mate just before you start getting a little carried away this boxrec forum is used for discussion, im not using it as a place to try find fights and hope that every matchmaker/promoter in the world will call me from here. IT may sound that way but once again simply using it to create discussion which it has done effectively to date. People are talking wether its positive or negative its all good i appreciate everyones opinions but some take it a little to seriously!
