Sauerland have 3 fight options and rematch clause on Haye

Post by whatashambles »

So not only did he give away a lot of money to Valuev he gave away options and a rematch clause.
It's not an immediate rematch so Haye will be allowed to fight Ruiz but wouldn't Sauerland want a Valuev rematch before Haye faces Klitschko? If he gets KTFO then there is nothing in the rematch.

So hang on, was Don King not the promoter of this event?

Forgive me if my wires are crossed, but doesn't King have something to do with the WBA at heavyweight?

Something to do with a mess caused during Lewis's riegn. I wonder if Don has an option to promote the belt to the American audience :-?

Ah okay, that makes sense then.

Cannot see much mileage in a rematch - don't see how Valuev will do any better than he did - he looked like shite and looked past it to me.

I suppose they could try and get Valuev a fight if Haye beats one of the klitchskos, but cannot see it.

I'd be amazed if anyone would get offered a heavyweight title fight without having to agree on options.
I imagine the reason Haye was able to jump the queue to get fights against Valuev and the Klits is because he takes short money and accepts options.

Only thing here is Haye was the bigger draw financially than Valuev. So rather than options I'd expect they had good percentages of UK and US TV money and possibly a deal whereby they could promote Hayes future fights in Germany for free

The only thing I heard about rematch was a Don King interview where he said there would be a rematch in the UK but...I also seen on East Side forum that Sauerland had 3 fights with Haye, if East Side is your source I think this thread needs to be ended

valuev has said he doens't want a rematch. i did however wonder what terms haye had to agree, to get the fight.

perhaps haye will have one in britain, then alternate it and have one in germany every other fight?

or perhaps sauer will "co-promote" the british fight with hayemaker and obviously with sky putting plenty in the pot.

as to king, ok he co-promoted valuev so i hope this doesn't complicate things. king does seem to have that WBA title in his pocket, when you look at the guys he can get ranked who come one after another.

let's say too many ppl have a piece of haye. fair enough. harder to make klitschko fights. however, there are alternatives. does haye - former 190-pounder - have to prove he's the best beyond doubt, right away? haye v adamek would be sensational, something no K2 fight has ever been aside from vitali's and wlad's stoppage losses. if haye can't get the BIG fights, big fights can be created. didn't king buy out main events who now run adamek's career?

adamek, as we know, became a cult star with the classic paul briggs fights (WBC 175 title), earned respect of hardcore fight fans beating bell, cunningham and banks & becoming The Man at cruiser (IBF & Ring 200-lb titles), then smashed up golota in the biggest fight ever staged in poland. adamek would stand to be a weight world champ...

BTW, surely lots of offers will come in, lucrative offers at that. wouldn't universum like to fast track boytsov or dimitrenko into a title shot, eh?

Haye vs Hopkins is a fight I think can be made. I am sure Hopkins will want it.

i can see why hopkins would have entertained the idea. after all, everyone from welter to heavy HAS TO fight hopkins. paul williams should fight hopkins. tomasz adamek should fight hopkins. david haye should fight hopkins, etc etc.

however, given the shot that shook valuev, a durable giant, and given haye's freshness and talent, i doubt hopkins would even entertain the idea of getting hurt by him, not at age 45.

also, who would want to see it? many feel haye is boring now, and obviously boring is the only way hopkins can be effective.

reckon hopkins sees his career out with RJJ rematch.

Lol me 2. Interestingly though if he beat Hopkins he'd have enough points to be ranked the number 1 heavyweight on boxrec without fighting either Klit :-?

Your 100% correct of course.

The heavyweight title is a big money buisness. The people that offered Haye the Valuev fight are hardly in Calzaghe`s league of negotiating a title fight are they

Seriously, NO! I hope this one does not happen. Hopkins is old enough to be Haye's father. David has said many times how Hopkins is one of his heroes, a guy he admires, so I would be surprised if Haye encourages such a fight to happen.

Haye won't make 200lbs again, while Hopkins only walks around at a maximum of 14lbs above 175lbs, so the weight issue surely renders this one as no-go?

A rematch with Valuev would go the same way as the first, with the only difference being that Haye would probably committ sooner than he did. Valuev is not going to improve. He 35, 36, has never been the most talented HW, but did the basics well & used his jab, height & reach advantages to good effect for the most part of his career. However, for man of his size, imo he doesn't impose himself enough, he doesn't even seem to try too hard to do so!

Haye should face Ruiz, score a TKO/KO, then go on to a big showdown with either Vitali or Wladamir! I personally would like to see him face Wladamir then Vitali. Do the business against them both! :box:

Hopkins is a relatively easy fight to make (with Haye's connections at Golden boy), fighting a guy who "people" say is all wrong for him (e.g. Calzaghe) has not influenced his judgements too much in the past.... and Heavyweight is often something that excites BHop.

Hopkins is an intelligent man, a decent business man, but not completely sensible. I mean he did fight Joe Calzaghe with a years lay off. Sure Haye caught and wobbled (momentarily) Valuev but Hopkins might think Haye will not catch him clean. Hopkins might think if Mock can hurt Haye, then maybe he can. One things for certain, if anyone can catch Haye "right", its Hopkins.

I aint saying its a fight I want to see, I don't think its a mismatch though. However, I think its a fight that might get Hopkins' juices going - and if it does... it will happen.

Hopkins' has a real desire to beat RJJ in every which way. He has the opportunity to do so in the ring, then he can also match RJJ greatest achievement. There were mutterings of Hopkins vs Valuev before Haye got in there.

If RJJ is successful against Hopkins, then that will be another option. Roy has talked about going to Heavyweight one more time. But then he's also talked about Middleweight also.

I think the nature of the performance will see alot of contenders look and think "a very beatable champion". Wouldn't be at all surprised if James Toney called Haye out. Naturally, if Haye does a number on Ruiz (not the forgone conclusion people think it is), then I can see those numbers twindle.
