Southpaw stance

Began boxing competitively, 1970, in Pensacola, Florida. Moved to Chicago, 1971; to Knoxville, 1971, and to Iowa, 1972. Moved to California, 1973; to Las Vegas, 1974; to Texas, 1974, and back to Knoxville, 1975. ‘I traveled to get more fights,’ he said (Columbus [Ohio] Dispatch 8-24-77:C-2).

Amateur record claimed (career) 139-14, but other sources believe he had closer to 200 amateur bouts.
