Degale: Valuev was a rubbish champion.. i could beat him

Post by whiskey »

Well the love affair between James and David is still raging !

Personally i don't think this press release will gain him any new supporters actually.

Degale fuels the fued with David Haye

Image

Olympic gold medallist and super middleweight professional James Degale has taken another thinly veiled swipe at David Haye as their fued continues to smoulder.

Degale, who hails from the same manor as Haye has already locked horns with the new WBA heavyweight champion and declares himself "better looking" than the heavyweight ex-model.

Haye, who publicly declared he didn't think Degale would amount to much as pro, has also stated that his Hayemaker Promotions signing, Geroge Groves is a more complete fighter and one whom will go further in the paid ranks.

However today Degale has declared that "Valuev was a rubbish champion" and that "He'd beat him" to pour scorn on the Hayemaker.

"He boxed very, very well but it was a boring fight." announced Degale.

The olympian was roundly booed on his pro debut and was written off by Joe Calzaghe before he even had his first professional fight.

"I'm the Marmite of boxing," James DeGale says"Now that I've turned from being an Olympic gold medal-winning champion into a very slick professional boxer there ain't no doubt about it. People are going to either love me or hate me."

Degale has also declared that his Olympic success has brought him lots of female adulation which he has taken full advantage of.

"I used to get women easy beforehand. But since I've become Olympic champion it's been crazy. I've been a very busy boy."

"Did you see the new black Range Rover outside my mum's front door? That was given to me by allegedly. So now I got the Range Rover my popularity has gone up even more.".

With almost 1 million PPV sales from Saturday and close to £5m in earnings from his David & Goliath show, I doubt Haye has to worry too much about what Degale has to say.

'IF' he said any of that he is making himself look silly.

if i won the lottery i would offer them both a few million just to make it happen, DeGale needs to calm himself down and remember what our previous gold medal winner has achieved. The lad has talent but a thinly veiled dig at a two-weight world champion is a knob-head publicity stunt. Respect is earned not a god-given right

was the foto not some kind of testicular cancer awareness thing....it might not have been but it rings a bell.

if not then it makes him look a bit of a knob. I wouldn't go counting any world titles. Middleweight is a harder weight than the weight Haye fights at.

That press release makes DeGale sound like a prick. He needs a new publicity team.

He should employ a pr person. After his last fight he came accross really well about Darren Sutherland.

chunky is 100% correct. haye took pops at chunky for absolutely no reason at all. chunky never did anything to him, the only thing he did was win a gold medal. haye publically said a lot of sh*t about chunky without reason. he made publicity for groves off chunkys back. chunky is right here, f*ck haye. can't wait to see wlad or vitali muller him, although he'll probably pull out before the fight is made.you wonder how he had a child at all with all the pulling out he does. well, statistically i guess the "pull out" method fails once in a while.

i can't even watch this degale. his fights being sold as chief support to PPV main events - a joke.

his debut - looking soft and pitty pat, an audley of the middle weight divisions. i know he will be successful, likely, just as aufdley is a failure. but in terms of personality and style, he is not my cup of tea, not at all.

this switching southpaw, even if he gets carefully moved to world titles, which he will, will probably never be exciting. do we really expect him to challenge himself as haye has? do we think he'll be in thrillers that match up to the mormeck, frago & thompson battles? will he score spectacular KOs at world level like haye's blowouts of gurov and macca? Will he win belts at 2 weights - would he be able to do it away from home? Will he fight any of his UK peers, like haye did with macca (in massive UK unification) and thompson? Will he win all his titles away from home - or will he win them in board rooms?

this is bollox. yes valuev is poor. but he is 300-pounds of poor. which is not so easy to fight.

Degale needs some meaningful fights before he can start spouting off crap like that. When he's upset the odds to win a world title like Haye has then we will start taking notice of James Degale for the right reasons.

Can I see a legit source for this? Because I can't believe Degale is actually daft enough to say this, particularly:

"Did you see the new black Range Rover outside my mum's front door? That was given to me by allegedly. So now I got the Range Rover my popularity has gone up even more.".

It reads like an article from thedailymash.co.uk

Gomez, I take it back. DeGale is as daft as that. :TU:

There's a fine line between hyping yourself to make a name/sell tickets, and being a tosser. Not sure Degale quite understands that balance just yet.
