Gomez Vs Limond is NOT happening..
well i suppose thats the forst let down of 2005. It was always asking too much for it to evolve into a super feather tourney... Arthur/Docherty already going ahead... Gomez and Limmond falling through. Would have been nice for the two winners to have faced each other. But i know im really living in a fantastically crazy little dreamworld of my own!
I agree. I don\'t think Willie has the experience to deal with a guy like Gomez yet. In a year from now i think Limond would have more of a chance..im not saying he would beat Gomez, but with a bit more experience i\'d give him a better chance of winning a fight like that.KOJOE90 wrote:As a Limond fan I am sort of glad really, Gomez would have been too strong for him IMO.
Limond built up a flashy record leading up to his stoppage defeat at the hands of Alex Arthur, but almost all of his opponents were journeymen, and Limond had never fought past 8 rounds as a pro...i have no doubt that Willie would have learned a lot more since his defeat to Arthur, than all those wins before it, and i believe he\'s still learning too.

I would like to see Gomez fight some top 20 Super-Featherweights, Maybe someone like Fernando "Bobby Boy" Velárdez.TerribleTerry wrote:Limond is a silky counter puncher but I could only see Gomez walking thru his well placed shots - Gomez is big for the weight and Limond wouldn't be able to keep him off.

Bobby Boy was demolished and then humiliated by Morales ( I suppose it was always gonna happen after beating his brother!) but I reckon Gomez should cash in and go for the biggest fight he/his promoter can get. Tip toeing around the perifery of world class is a good way to lose without gaining anything.Max Baer wrote:I would like to see Gomez fight some top 20 Super-Featherweights, Maybe someone like Fernando "Bobby Boy" Velárdez.TerribleTerry wrote:Limond is a silky counter puncher but I could only see Gomez walking thru his well placed shots - Gomez is big for the weight and Limond wouldn't be able to keep him off.
Bobby Boy Valzerez is now campaigning at Super Feather? That would be an excellent match for Gomez - Valzerez is a natural Super Bantamweight.
Another is Agapito Sanchez.
As good a fights as these are, Gomez doesn't have much time left - I would say he needs a proper world title fight ASAP, he's not going to get any better.
With the WBO and IBF titles now vacant perhaps these options is what Gomez should be looking at. He is ranked very highly with the WBO.
