Enzo Maccarenelli - he reckons he can beat Tomasz Adamek

Post by FLINT ISLAND »

Enzo Maccarenelli is bordering on delusion / insanity - the same way as Audley Harrison went I fear

Most people thought he would pack it in - since his downward slide began with losing to David Haye - then Ola Aflobai - then Denis Lebedev

But now he insists that he can come back and win his WBO World title - and beat World NO 1 - IBF Champion Tomasz Adamek

Of course - fair play to him for believing in himself - and having the desire to carry on fighting - its a essential part of being a top boxer - to believe you can beat the best

But he has shown in his last fight he was a faded force - and there was nothing to suggest there he could beat the World Number 1

Adamek - is now dipping his toes in Heavyweight waters - recently knocking out Andrew Golota - wont be long before he starts calling out Haye or the Klitshcko brothers

At this stage surely he would have to much for Maccarenelli

Its doubtful wether Maccarenelli could get his WBO belt back - let alone unifying titles

Fair play to him - if he can prove people wrong and have the heart to win back a World title - big respect if he does pull it off

But its a real tough ask -after such confidence crushing losses

Boxrec is also ridculed in this article - for ranking Maccarenelli at such a lowly position

But after his last loss - he deserves to have plummted down the rankings

Flint, do you think that Enzo has the mental strength to fight again at the top level? I am tempted to believe that he was shot "mentally"

More importantly, when you unlock him and let him out of your shed for his training sessions, will he need a password to get back in, or will the door be left open for him?

This is actually a proper thread about article released the other day

I expected proper posters to make proper responses

Quality posters like Terry D would surely rise above the childish nonense and contribute good points to the thread

But of course I was expecting childish pointless and preditcable posts like the one you made.

Adamek would KO Enzo! Tomasz is hungry, while I suspect the desire to actually fight, rather than just to train, has gone from Maccarenelli. This won't happen anyway because I do not see Adamek going back down to Cruiser anytime soon, if at all. To even contemplate Enzo moving up to HW is plain stupid!

Ok - If you want a serious answer, perhaps you shouldn`t constantly bang on about Enzo, stalker fashion.

The fact is that Enzo seems like a decent guy, but he believed the hype that was placed upon him. The fact remains that he has only beaten one decent fighter in his pro career, that being Braithwaite. Even then he didn`t exactly look the most convincing.

He stepped up against Haye, Lebedev and Olafabi and was found out each time, brutally in his last fight.

The likes of Adamek would be far too strong.

He has a family to feed and he can probably still make good money from boxing, so fair play to him and I wish him all the best. For me though, he just does not have it at top level and in my opinion, he never did have.

I would still like you to come clean about the shed though

Much better post

And I agree with all your post actually

I think even a prime Enzo might have lost to Denis Lebdev because he is one hard little man and unbeaten

Braithwaite and Domiguez were both good fringe world class wins

The downside to them wins were - both were faded fighters from their best years

Olafabi did absolutely nothing in that fight bar spoil , showboat, and land the one KO punch. It was a bit of a stink job were his antics not so funny to watch. Enzo just gassed.

versus Braithwaite I acknowledge Braithwaite wasn't a spring chicken but I thought Enzo boxed very compactly and I took him to be good enough to undo Haye on the back of that.

It's AFOLABI as well thank you for making me get it wrong! OLA AFOLABI....possibly the hardest to get right name in World Boxing history IMO.

Is flint island Avid Merrion - with Enzo locked up like Craig from big brother - whilst Flint asks to see his 'sticky love piss?'

I think Enzo, like Frank Bruno, was proteced for so long that when he finally got battered against a world class opponent, it really tore his confidence up.

I think Flint should be made to stop starting Enzo threads, I have been told Enzo is gonna beat him to oblivion if he ever finds out who he is!

enzo would have a snowballs chance in hell, & despite this why would adamek look at a poor cruiser to boost his heavy career??
let's face it enzo has been exposed by lebedev & that black geezer not too mention haye's obliteration :!:

Oh yeah, that one. There's not that many of them in boxing, so it must be him.

Enzo really needs some confidence builders at the moment if he is to carry on. Any talk of guys like Adamek should stop right away. A couple of knock over jobs early on some large bills followed by a fight with someone like Norton should be what he is looking at.

Although I will reserve judgment until I have heard what Terry D has to say...

IMO he should be placed among the European level fighters ATM, till he gets some notable wins in that crowd. It wouldnt be beneath him to fight for the British title even.

All other issues aside, given Enzo's recent string of losses he is in no position to be considered a "World" title challenger.

Other than Wayne Braithwaite, who himself is hardly a world beater, Enzo has no-one on his record (of wins) who could really be said to be even close to world level, or for that matter European level.

Oh- except Bobby "the next Tyson" Gunn, of course.

Wayne Braithwaite was a former world champ and he went on to beat a good prospect after so give him credit for that one.
