Desparate to find info on boxer grandad.

Happy new year everyone, not sure if I m posting in the right areabut here goes, I am doing some research on our family and I have a grandad who was a boxing champion(I m led to believe) but it was when he was in the army, he served about 1914-20, my question is how do I find out any info on him with the info I ve mentioned, where do I look or start, any advice greatly appreciated, thanking you, Penny

His name was John Dicken born 8th march 1886 came from the west bromwich/staffordshire area, fingers crossed I get a result

thanks for your replies guys, will look Kevin up robert.snell,and J-C I found this boxer yesterday in a search but it gives no further info other than whats in the box,but I did wonder whether there was a connection because of name and area, will keep searching, thankyou both for your help, Penny
