how would you like a Friday Fight Night to be done?

As now - a live bout, followed by pundits, previews, and editted highlights of 2 or 3 other fights, each with a bit of analysis.

Sky Format Poll

Post by whicker »

Just for discussion (I don't work for Sky, of course) - how would you like to see the coverage on Friday Fight night done?

I've taken into account acount that, being a 10pm start, the live main event is shown first.

but what of the rest of the show?

i've gone for the top one. they seem to choose the most noteworthy undercard fights and i dont care if they dont show the whole fight, i think the format they have works well.

Well I cannot believe I am saying this, must be getting old.

If you would have asked me 2 month ago..... I would have said. a live "area" title fight, or hot prospect, followed by the live main event.

Now they are actually doing it (noticed this change recently), I actually prefer the main event being on first. I guess its a scheduling thing and I'm getting tired waiting till 11 o clock to see the main event.

When it used to be on SATURDAY Night at 8pm.... I prefered the main event to be on last or in the middle. Now, I kind of want it done and dusted - cause its such a late "prime time" start.

Exactly and we didn't have to pay $50 or whatever it was to see it.

I'd like to see the show(FFN) start earlier and have a couple more live fights shown but there's not much wrong with the show as it is.

Yeah, Sky's broadcast of Pacman was faultless. Quick finish to the show after the bout was over, but so what? We saw what we wanted to see.

I have to say I quite enjoy the way they're currently doing the coverage... Look forward to it every week!

Whats the complaints been about? The fact we didn't get the post fight interviews?

If there was a fight on the undercard directly relevant to the main, like an eliminator, then show it, I reckon. Otherwise, show the main, then show the best undercard fight, and whatever highlights fit in whats left

I would love to see 2 undercard fights maybe 6-10 rounders then the main event followed by analyzation and interviews so like this:

6 rounder
Fighter A vs Fighter B

8/10 rounder
Fighter C vs Fighter D

Main Event
Fighter E vs Fighter F

followed by interviews and anylasation

i picked more highlights so that they dont skip rounds during a good fight or a title fight (as they have recently) to do that though they may need to extend the length of the programme sometimes. i would not really want them to cut down on previews or punditry though. i dont think they go overboard on that. sometimes they only spend a minute or so talking about a fight thats not the main event.

it annoys me is when they skip rounds during an imortant or good fight. i tired of hearing dave clark say that we have a small hall classic and then they proceed to skip rounds and dont show the fight in full.

it really annoyed me when they skipped rounds during the davies - napa fight a couple of weeks ago. they advertised 3 fights to be shown and because they all went the distance. they skipped rounds in two title fights. rounds were skipped in the edwards fight as well. i wish sometimes they would extend the broadcast when the card warrants it. its not like the programme on after it is live , its normally a football or rugby repeat. surely they could adjust the schedule 10 or 15 minutes to get a few extra rounds in. they easily adjust the schedule when a football match gets delayed kicking off or if the match goes to extra time.

some of the undercard fights have been very good lately and some of these fights deserve to be shown in full.

i dont know why im surprised though. on the last khan ppv (an event that cost more on top of the normal subscription) they did not show brook v lomax or the enzo fights even though they had time and both were short.

The show should be 2half hours.

they could certainly schedule it for that. if alot of fights finish early they could show other action or preview fortcoming fights. or else they could finish it up and show a filler programme until the next programme starts. im sure they do that for other sports.

The problem at the moment (unless an Olympian is boxing) is that it's essentially a one fight show. Highlights are OK, but it's just not the same as watching a live fight, especially when rounds are cut.
