The botton line is the pair of them need an intensive Max Clifford course.
Both of them are PR disasters.

Question: Why is it OK for Froch to endlessly smack-talk about Calzaghe and even proclaim himself Britain's pound-for-pound best sportsman (not just boxer), yet when Amir Khan makes a much less bombastic - and entirely legit - point about being a bigger draw, everyone starts foaming at the mouth?

Don't get me wrong, when Khan fought there it was a 'commerical' success but not a boxing success. Nottingham and Leicester have a large asian community who naturally wanted to see their icon as he was on their doorstep.

I went to Khan v Lawton and there was a reasonable turnout there for that. However the attendee's were total muppets and i've never seen a more hostile environment at a boxing show before. The tannoy had a repeat message playing "Warning: racist language will result in you being ejected from the premises".

It pains me to say it, but the arena was divided to khan fans on one side and lawton fans on the other. The security were asking who you were there to support as we went in through the body searches.

It was a shame because i know a few people that went along who have not attended a live show before and vowed never to go to one again.

It was upsetting for personally, as i chatted to an Asian lady who had brought their young son and daughter to see Amir, who was worried for her husband, who was trying to buy the kids a soft drink, but was trapped in this huge Stone Island clad army of drunken yobs chucking beer at each other at the bar area and singing all sorts of tripe.

Whilst we chatted briefly she said that they'd moved round to this area of the arena because some of the Khan fans were even worse - and that they eager for the main event to start so that it would end and they could get out of there. They said they'd watch it on TV in future.

To answer the original question. I think Froch is at another level or two up from Khan.

Khan started well enough, but its been well documented his sales have consistently fallen - whilst Froch has gone from strength to strength. Even though he is hidden away on some silly channel. :witzend:

Sure Froch has talked as much rubbish as Khan at times. He seriously sold himself short with his continuous Calzaghe dribble. Though the bottom line is that Froch has taken risks against dangerous and testing opponents. Whilst as Khan has had an easy route to the world title based on hype .. and seems genuinely ignorant to the fact.

As for comparing Khans chin to Calzaghe - well I guess the guy feels silly enough about that comment in his now sober condition :D

In defence of Khans comments, wasn't it Froch who first "trash talked" about Amir Khan?

I guess everyone in the world who has at least modicum of knowledge about boxing needs to wake up then, because if you can't see Khan's chin is made of shit you clearly are in a vast minority.

Froch was trying to goad Calzaghe into a fight, I suppose.

And how on earth is the point entirely legit? Khan sold around 5000 tickets on his doorstep; Froch sold twice as many on his.

not a chance. khan kotelnik did about 7 thousand in the men!!! on his doorstep!!.some people say less!! froch did 9 thousand at 3:30 am in nottingham.. so how did you work out that khan sells more tickets then froch in nottingham. when khan fought in nottingham it did 5 thousand.

I was at khan kotelnik and they were upgrading cheap seats to 75 pound and closed the top tier,i don't really like either fighter but would pay to watch froch depending on the opponent but having been to a few khan fights won't be going again due to the hostile environment that i experienced at the kotelnik fight in the MEN arena.

Some would argue he is a dickhead and some would argue he is just immature.

For example, crushing an old man's legs under his 4x4 after speeding AND jumping a red light seems like the actions of a dick head to me, it could also be construed to be the actions of someone simply too immature to have a powerful car.

But to then break the sound barrier in his 6-series cabriolet and get a ban, after already being involved in the above accident, does definitely underline the dickhead theory.

It's lucky the collision with the cyclist went no further otherwise he'd have been looking at porridge.

Everyone I knew went to see Barrera. That was evident with the cheers Antonio received and the boo's that Amir got.

Second, the first time Amir fought in Nottingham, he was just an undercard fight against a bum. But after Skelton pulled out injured he was elevated to main event. Many tried to get their ticket money back but were told they had purchased 'an evening of boxing and that the line up could change' and basically they were stuffed.

Secondly, the Lawton fight was busy granted as Amir was at the height of his fame and unbeaten. Nonetheless it was not as busy as Robin Reid, Jean Pascal or Andre Dirrell.

How do I know?

But i can walk to the Arena in 10 minutes and was at each show.

I distinctly remember his first appearance there because the night was absolutely cack. He fought a total cretin with floppy hair who lasted (and i kid you not) about 15 seconds. If it wasn't for Jennings vs Mutley it would have been the worse show I'd ever been to.

I purchased a ROW A ticket and when I took my seat there was a steel fence then about 15 rows of 'VIP' in front of me, talk about trade descriptions act !

When I got ringside's for Froch - that's what they was - RINGSIDE !

total revisionist garbage. If you're going to come on here and exaggerate wildly hen please do us all a favour and don't bother. Barrera got a terrific reception, he was the reason I was there. That and Hall Pryce. Amir came out and his reception was actually better than Barrera's because it surprised me a bit at the time.
I secretly wanted Barrera to win I think just because he is a leg' and had been brought over as the sacraficial lamb in all honesty. But I cheered for both fighters.

Apart from the odd driving misdemeanour which I am not trying to make light of (I have a general disdain for all motorists, let alone bad ones), Khan has always come across with humility to me.

For a kid, of an ethnic minority, to appeal across the board like that, without the PR training etc...and draw 12 million viewers or whatever, aged 18, is fantastic.

Froch wants to sh*t up and learn off him instead of the normal "I'm a legend, smoke his pipe....." etc...while his bird shamelessly sits preening herself for next season's "Celebrities Talk Sh*t in The Kitchen Fantasy Shag Island Get Me Out Of It I'm A Broke Tosser"....while "darling" spends the night getting smacked in the mouth.

The "everyone was there to see Barrera line" is total rubbish. Khan got a good reception. It's like saying, Hatton only has 6,000 fans because that's how many turned up for the Michael Stewart fight, whereas everyone was there to see Kostya Tszyu.
I doubt you know many Khan fans.
