Looks like Arthurs going up to light welter, at least for one fight. Anything left for the scot? A WBO lightweight title challenge could eb on the cards again I suppsoe, but why put him in such a 50-50 fight at light welter if thats the route Warren is looking at for him ?

Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
i think this is warrens way of cornering the WBO title
Mitchell and Arthur could be on hand if Amir should lose
and even be possible Amir opponets down the line
The warren Boxing Orginization right enough

Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
I hope Nigel rinses the whinger.
Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
i think jsut to see them both in the ring on the night will be a bonus
the show isnt looking like PPV stuff to be honest
What happened to Brook vs Jennings
i thought this would have been on this.

Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
Nigel Wright, with no disrespect, probably will be beaten again.
He has had a somewhat limited career recently:
Other than edging Ross Minter in prizefighter, he has beaten no-one of note for about 3 years, his only notable wins before this being eding Gary Reid 2006 (more losses than wins) in an English title, and KOing Kevin McIntryre in 2005.
Still, he has challenged for both the British and Commonwealth titles... not sure on what grounds, but still, welcome to boxing.

Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
hopwfully arthur finally re-starts his career in newcastle as he has done nothing since the cook fight and i know he had a fight but the guy is a quality fighter and he needs some lightweight fights, him v murray would be an absolute stonker, proper british boxing blockbuster.
Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
am a big fan of nigel wright has great boxing skills an decnet power but he seems to have a mental block he does well in a fight then just stops performing hopefully he can pull of the shock and get his career back on track
Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
I certainly take my hat off to Arthur after he beat Foster because Foster boxed like a man on fire that night. I think Arthur won, it could have been a draw I don't quite remember. Sure Arthur won though.
Also after getting laid flat out by Gomez he made a comeback.
Arthur is an example like Haye of what I was saying about Khan yesterday. You can get sparked and still have a chin. But find the Khan thread if you want to bang on about that.

Off topic, sorry, but bloody hell, it would be a real shame if the Jennings Brook fight never happened.

Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
I think Nigel doubts his own stamina and his ability to maintain a fast pace throughout a fight.
Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
nigel can win this as he has a decent chin, arthur may run out of ideas, hardly amazing !!!
Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
he's a bloody life-guard, or was. His stamina should be first rate. Not that your average lifeguard is fit as a boxer, but swimming is one of the best ways to put your stamina through the roof, wich as a lifeguard, he would know.johnty1888 wrote:I think Nigel doubts his own stamina and his ability to maintain a fast pace throughout a fight.
He was beating Daws as I remember but let Daws in through the back-door.
Re: Alex Arthur Vs nigel Wright
He certainly looked amazing when he was powering through the british scene early days
Gave us a classic in the gomez fight and looked decent for a while on his comeback trail
all this inactivity not good though
Certainly looked to be struggling at superfeather in his past few fights though probably to do with weight
He can certainly punch but straight in against a Good Light welter is a gamble
Might show us something though , no time to hang about now.
